SR1911 smashes case

Hello all! I'm a new member here.
Just traded a Glock 27 for a SR1911. Took it to the range this morning and I am very happy with the feel and accuracy of the gun but I believe I may have a problem. The gun is denting the primmer end of the case on the edge. Its bending down the lip slightly. What may be causing this?

Thanks,
Nick

RockDoctor is an unknown quantity at this point
Hard to see clearly, but the "dent" seems a little large for the ejector.

Its doing it to all the cases. Here is what I found........

I just field strip it and looked closely at the face. The face is not flat, there is a high spot that is making the dents on the cases (looks like poor machining.) I should be able to file it down. Do you think I'll hurt anything?

This may be why the guy was so eager to trade even up for my G27

Your're not alone on this one. Mine does the exact same thing to the brass. I haven't had any other problems thou. Mine is very accurate and shoots good. I'm evjoying shooting my three week old SR1911 to much to sent it back to Ruger just yet. Maybe in a couple of months after the New wears off. Since I'm reloading the mark on the brass makes it easy to tell just how many times each piece of brass has been fired.

That needs to go back to Ruger. You could fix it but Ruger needs to do the work. Maybe you can get them to toss in a free hat, or something, for your troubles

James6591 will become famous soon enough
Both pics are out of focus so hard to tell.
Regardless, that should not be happening, if it were mine, it would be going back.

That is not uncommon, especially on the Taurus 1911's.
