Had to send the new LC9 back to Ruger

This is a discussion on Had to send the new LC9 back to Ruger within the Ruger Pistols forums, part of the Pistol & Revolver Forum category; I've tried a lot of different ammo and I'm still getting 35-40% failure to eject rate. Now the wait begins.... I'm confident everything will work ...

I'm confident everything will work out fine, just hate not having it. I just put a new lasermax on it today too. I was having a good time shooting it when it ejected.

Mine works great. I've all types of target and hollow point ammo and no jams. The rear sight came loose but it was a simple fix with an Allen wrench. I know how you feel, it's time to go play and your favorite toy is in the shop.

Own and carry - so, I will ask --

Did you disassemble the magazine?
If so, do it again, carefully, and turn the spring 180 degrees.

Have you tried a different magazine?

Have you completely cleaned and lubricated?

Finally -- double check the take-down "pin slide lock" -- be certain it is in the full, upright position.

I have used Remington, UMC and WW White box 115 grain ammo -- not had a problem, but I have learned the above might be a source of hiccups to operation of the firearm.
Good Luck.

LSL, I have done everything excpet take the mag down. Never thought of that, I did send the mag back with the gun so if that is part of the problem I'm hoping Ruger will square that away. No extra mags...yet. Still on the hunt for a cpl that wont brake the bank, but I fear I'll just have to pay up.

Update, I got the LC9 back yesterday. I took it to the range and put 150 rounds of 115gr FMJ through it. Zero issues. I guess all is right with the world again (at least in my little part of the world).
Ruger replaced the extractor and the barrel. Turns out they have had this issues with quite a few of them.

Sent mine back yesterday. It was a strange situation. It worked just fine with 147 grain and 135 grain hollow points (winchester and hornady), but would usually fail at least once per magazine on 115 grain ball stuff. It would not extract those casings. Just left them kinda hanging loosely in the chamber.

Hopefully all will be well when I get it back. I like it, and when I'm satisfied with its reliability it will start getting regular outings with me.

FredoSD. Let it cool down, clean it real good and take it out 2 or 3 more times and just shoot 20 to 50 rounds to check it out. And then every once in awhile run 20 or so through it to give you piece of mind.
