To all the lc9 haters

Let me just start off by saying I am a huge glock fan. I also ever even thought twice about the lc9. But I picked one up in a trade. Wasn't real excited about it but thought oh well why not. I was aware of the safety features and long trigger. I cleaned it and took it out to shoot it and it grew on me more and more. I didn't have a single problem or jam. By the end of the weekend I was carting it around in my pocket and was in love. Now let me ruffle some feathers. To all you people bashing the lc9 with the trigger and safetys that is what the gun was designed for. It is strictly a self defense carry gun. It is not a target 1911 or glock, Springfield or smith competion gun. Why would you even buy or compare or bitch about be features of the lc9. A good carry gun is not supposed to have a 1 pound trigger. It is not safe to have a carry gun with such a light trigger. And the safety's did not bother me at all. I did take the magazine safety out. The lc9 is a great carry gun and I always thought I would not like it.

We all choose our firearms based on many preferences and what satisfies one may not satisfy another. I personally do not like the LC series of firearms yet I will not say it is garbage or bash it in any way. My friend owns one and is satisfied with it. For me, there are better options which I did purchase in this size category. My Taurus 740 slim has served me extremely well for almost two years. My S&W Shield 9 has now replaced that although I still love taking the 740 out to the range occasionally. I have been looking at the Springfield XDs and have yet to buy one. If Ruger would make the SR series in this size I would definitely get one. It is great that you like your LC9 but it is not for everyone. I even have a Glock 27 even though I do not like any of the other offerings. The baby Glock has a cute ugliness which appealed to me yet I am not one of those who claim that the Glock is the Gun of Guns. I like them all but I will voice my likes and dislikes of different firearms due to my preferences. Dislikes do not necessarily translate to bashing.

Glad you are happy with the LC9. I like mine also.
My complaint about the bashing is that Yes it has a LONG trigger, mag safety, manual safety & loaded chamber indicator. It had those when you bought it. Didn't you look, inspect it, dry-fire it before you bought it? That's what drives me nuts. I'm not a big fan of the mag disconnect either, but on the LC9, I left it alone.

In this day and age, people will complain about anything, sometime justified, often not.

Before the Ruger 1911 was out, people were whining.....

The New SR1911 is no good....

You guys all have good views on this bashing thing... I think if you have a problem with a firearm, state your problem and maybe there is a easy fix for it out there. Don't just run it in the ground bashing it. I started reading this Forum because of the good tips and fixes I have found on here. There are a couple dudes who won't post unless they can bash or complain about something , I don't even read there post's anymore .

I'm not a Glock fan but I may buy one someday they are good shooters. I shoot USPSA with a lot of Glock people.
Same goes for the Taurus's, I have a buddy that has a Judge for a home defense weapon.

I knew all of that. I don't really mind it. They do make replacements so you will have no loaded chamber indicator and no safety and better trigger. I may do that at some point. I did remove the mag release safet already. It was easy to do.

I do not have a 45, how would you compare to a .40 S&W?

Recoil is less then a 40. 40s are snappy with muzzle clip. 45 is more of a push back

First off, the place I bought mine at would not let me dry fire it. His rules.

Second I don't have a problem with the weight of the trigger, the modifications that are done do not effect the over all pull weight of the trigger. Some of the modifications will get rid of that gritty feel close to the breaking point. But most of all they only reduce the length of the pull by just over half. Meaning the trigger will break at less then a half an inch instead of at over an inch. Does not effect the safety of the weapon one bit. You would be hard pressed to accidently have this thing go off in your pocket while digging for keys or loose change. Besides that the manual safety should eliminate that possible problem.

I did not care for the LCI on it especially since I had to shave my front sight down on mine because it was shooting more then 5 inches low at 15 ft while on a bench in a rest. so I took it off and used my dremel and shaved the tab down on the bottom of the LCI, it still sticks up but less then a 4th of what it used to.

The mag disconnect was the very first thing I removed. Only did it for something to do and it gave me a reason to break the weapon down.

Before I did the trigger mods, I was shooting way to the right due to the long trigger travel causing me to pull to the right. In a rest the gun shot 3 inches to the left. I did not have this issue with my other pistols so I figured I would try and make it shoot somewhat like my other pistols so I would not have to try and think and adjust my shooting from pistol to pistol. I shot more then 100 rounds through it before doing the trigger and I just could not get used to it. So it was modified.

My real bitch with Ruger is the sights though. Mine came out of the box shooting more then 3 inches to the left and 5 inches low on a bench at 15 ft. That is on the low left edge of center mass at best. My front sight was pinned off center to the right which would account for it shooting so far to the left. Even after unpinning it and sliding it just left of center and sliding the rear sight way off center to the right, it just hits center.

Sure I could compensate for it but then it would be back to that having to think for a split second which pistol I had in my hands.

But I do like wearing it though, even in my Fobus holster, I almost forget that I have it on my side.

But as soon as I have the funds, I am going to pick up a sig P938 and the Ruger will go in the gun cab to stay.

But I feel that Ruger is behind in the micro 9mm market.

I like my LC9, I thought it was good enough for my wife to have around the house. I knew about all of the safetys and loaded chamber indicator and all but I bought it any way. I won't complain.

I try and not to bash something until I shoot it. Had the LCP and after breaking it hated it. springfield XDm 3.8 9mm after 5 rounds hated it. PF9 was ok when I first had it but it kept failing to feed and stove pipe issues so I got rid of it. But springfield XDm 4.5 .40s&W love it. Just shot my LCR for the first time today and I was surprised on how smooth it is for a double action revolver. LC9 is on order and I hope it's as good as I've read but I think I'm going to modify it to make it more better then my old PF9. Hopefully 6 months from now I can get a hold of a XDs
