Has anyone noted this issue on their SR1911 ?
I was reading a review of the SR1911 on the M1911.org forum and noted with interest the reviewer's findings regarding the slide stop on the SR1911. http://ezine.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=91
Note the two related comments and the pics of the slide stop
"The premature lockbacks appeared to be caused by the excessively long slide stop lobe combined with the weak plunger spring. Clear brass markings could be seen on the lug."
"Second, the slide stop pin, or shaft, is noticeably undersized, at 0.196” instead of the nominal and desired 0.200”. This should be corrected, as it may contribute to the premature lockbacks experienced during testing. What does contribute to lockbacks for certain is the over-long slide stop lug. A revised slide stop would seem to be in order. Meanwhile, slide stops with proper dimensions are available from a number of sources."

You should simply send it on back to Ruger so they could see what they did wrong and correct it. That may directly result in a fix for many other guns that are already made and guns that haven't even been built yet.

As I said in my post, this was in an online review. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this occur in their SR1911s. My SR1911 is at my GS for some work so I can't check my own.

It appears the reviewers, while noting the items in their testing, thought enough of their review Ruger 1911s to purchase them. I've had my SR1911 for about a year, firing over 600 rounds and haven't had a premature lock-back. I've also checked the magazines and haven't observed scratches or problems inserting or dropping the mags. The safety has distinct clicks, locks up and down and has no play. When I shoot week handed (left handed for me) I have had no problems accidentally engaging the safety.
Thanks for posing the link. The review at the 1911 site was extremely thorough and has further convinced me of having a quality handgun that I will be shooting for a long time and pass down to one of my sons.

RockDoc, I agree.
I have about 600 rounds through mine with no issues.
I just found the photos very interesting and a bit worrisome. I wonder why Ruger went with an undersized slide stop pin? I also wonder if an aftermarket slide stop made at 0.200” would even fit into the Ruger barrel link?
How's the weather in Big D ?

I've had mine for 14 months (since May 2011) and have fired more than 7,000 rounds. This is not a problem. FWIW, I polish the projecting end of the slide stop to a mirror finish, but this is for appearance, not function. It makes me feel good.

How's the weather in Big D ? | A record of 107F yesterday on this date and predicted to be about the same today. Too dang hot to shoot mid day, so I go out before 0800.

I bow to your superior trigger finger my friend! I'm at around 2k myself and thought that was a bit high.
How about some pics of the barrel and slide wear points? I've been wondering how these look as things get broken in good.
Thanks, Larry
