In May of 2009...the wife and I were faced with the situation of 'what do we keep' after I lost both of my jobs within 5 working days of each other!
We sold nearly everything except both of our 2.25" SP101's (her's in .38+P and mine in .357 mag), which we kept for home & personal defense and the 6.5" Stainless Single-Six (which was the first revolver I ever bought...I had actually sold it...but fortunately I was able to buy it back!)
One of the guns I hated to sell was my original 4" adjustable-sight stainless GP100 (I had 6 of them...but it was my favorite)...but food on the table for kids prevailed!
I prayed and prayed about being able to buy a replacement some day...and the Lord blessed me with a 4" fixed-sight, full-lug, stainless GP100 in .357 mag...which I now like more than all the others I had owned (see avatar)! Amazingly, had I not 'lost' the other 4" GP100...I would never have been looking for a replacement when I found the one I have today! The smaller Lett grip fits my smaller hands better...and this one is much more accurate than the other 4" I had...and I thought it was excellent! Thank you Lord!

Glock 27. Cause it was my first pistol and I've never had a single problem with it.

Tough call. Both were my Dad' guns. a 1956 flat loading gate Single-Six that is nice enough to BARELY be a shooter,, or his 1978 Ruger Old Army, now modded with a 2 Cylinder Kirst Conversion with Belt Mountain Base Pin and Base Pin Latch. That gun is REALLY versatile.
Another tough call is my Stainless Bicentennial Single-Six, the first gun that I ever bought. it was engraved by the well known engraver R E Skaggs, who is a personal friend. He is VERY expensive nowadays, but at the time (35 Years Ago) he was engraving to supplement his income (and because he enjoyed doing it).

1948 Winchester 62A pump 22 LR....98% condition.."tribute" gun to my very first gun...took years to find this replacement.
I've made a decision at my old age of 75...I'll not sell any more guns...probably won't buy any more either....I have some friends that are shooters and I'd rather see the guns given to them than ever sold...don't need the money so why sell something that's taken a while to amass....got a flatgate, a LNIB in the original box Super Blackhawk...almost unfired old model 30 m1 carbine Blackhawk...Several Lipsey Vaquero "original size"...A Vaquero "original size" Sheriff...and a bunch of other Rugers...Nothing that's a bank breaker but nothing I'd like to see just get sold for a few bucks...so if any of my buddies are reading this...I'm not going yet!!

I sold one or two guns in my life, that's all, and regret selling them to this day.

I see we're in the pistol forum and I only have two. I'd have to chose the SR22p over the Taurus PT22.
Now, if we're talking about all guns (pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns), I'd have to chose the 10/22 for it's versatility, accuracy, reliability, and cost to shoot and maintain.

I would never ever consider selling my grandfather's Colt .45 Single action Army. He got it from his grandfather, and we said its going to he passed down to me after he passes. I got to shoot it for the first time this summer and I was speechless. It may not be in mint condition, but that pistol is still amazing!

I'll never sell my GP100 4 inch .357. Even though my wife shoots it most of the time, it fits like a glove and I shoot it the best of all my handguns.

My dad's S&W model 10-7, 4", blued, .38, 1982. Love that gun and everytime I break it out I think of my dad. Mint, super accurate, and to me priceless......
Tony
PS It likes to hang out with it's "Little brother" the .357 Combat Magnum. |
