I finally convinced the wife to buy a handgun this week, so I did a lot of shopping around and finally settled on the SR9C. I absolutely loved the way it felt in my hand and firing was a dream. So I brought it home, field stripped and cleaned it, and anxiously awaited an opportunity to get to the local range. That came this morning.
Wife in tow, we headed out to kill some paper. I couldn't believe how accurate this thing was out of the box. My wife had no issues shooting, either - though she has a tendency to close her eyes ever so briefly in anticipation of the shot, which causes her to shoot a little low. I can train that...
After 40 rounds, I dropped the empty magazine to reload and the extractor and spring fell off. It seems the extractor pivot pin fell out at some point and there was no way to find it. So now I'm sitting here with probably the prettiest paperweight in the neighborhood!
I guess I get to see their awesome customer service first hand - when they open on Monday. I'm just annoyed that this happened the first day I fired the dang thing!
Anyone else experience this pin falling out?

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Congrats with the purchase although I too have a very pretty paperweight of a LC9 right now. Custom service is great though and should help you right out. Best of luck!

Sorry you had the problem. I have nearly 1000rnds through mine and never a problem. I would definitely stay with the pistol. Mine shoots nearly as well as my full size 1911.

Don't give up on it. Have had mine for a while and love it. Only problem I've had was it far from accurate. After spending some time dialing in the front and rear sight it now shoots great. As far as Ruger customer service is concerned there really is none better and this is the voice of experience speaking.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with your new SR9c. Don't give up on it though. Buying a new pistol (along with anything machanical) there's always a posiblility of problems. Mine has been great and you will find that the vast majority of people that have bought one havn't had any problems. Ruger customer service will take care of it for you.

My wife's main range gun is her SR9c. 3,000+ rounds through it and no problems. I prefer my SR9. Good luck with yours.

Shot over 1000+ rounds with mine with only a few feed issues in the begining (first 50 rounds or so) but after that it gets smoother and smoother every time I shoot. I don't strip it and clean after every trip to the range, I do run a bore snake through it. I usually clean after every couple of trips, I normally shoot around 100 round each trip.

Thanks all for the comments - especially Tracker. I'm glad I'm not the only one to have this problem. I understand things happen, and as long as humans are involved there are bound to be mistakes. Just disappointed that I can't be at the range enjoying this great little gun.
It turns out my brother bought one the same day I did, even though we hadn't discussed it at all beforehand. I guess great minds really do think alike!

Sent my gun back last Tuesday and got it back this afternoon - holy turnaround time, Batman! They seem to have added a second pin inside the ejector pivot pin to reinforce it and keep itin place, which I'm fine with. I could tell they fired a few rounds to make sure it was fixed - they sent it back pretty dirty, actually.
Glad to have my gun back, and can't wait to get back to the range!

I just purchased a new Ruger SR40c about a week ago. I really liked the feel of the gun when i rented and shot at my local range. They offered me a great deal on one so I decided to buy it for my everyday carry. I am just starting to shoot and carry a pistol, so im a beginner at this. I was very excited about carrying this gun, until:
First Trip to range: Using Winchester 165 gr. FMJ
After first 14 shots slide stayed locked back as if mag was empty (1 bullet still left in mag). Whats that about??
Switching to my smaller 9 round mag, after 2 shots fired, trigger did not reset. I had to remove mag, clear the chamber, and discovered the bullet from the chamber had a light mark as if it had been striked lightly. This is happeneing very often. (WHY???)
Now I'm starting not to trust this gun. I couldnt even shoot 50 rounds problem free.. heck not even 3 rounds problem free with that trigger not resetting.
I just sent the gun in yesterday for service, I am a little upset because i spent 500 dollars on a gun that does not work (new). I wanted to believe Ruger made good quality guns, but....(???)

Just bought a SR9C, myself. Ran about 500 rounds through it so far with no issues. I haven't seen anything going south on mine as of yet. Love the trigger, had to adjust the sights though. Real nice shooter!
