40 SR 1911's

For those interested Perry's in Wendell NC is having Ruger days this Fri and Sat.

Ruger Days
I got a email flyer this afternoon from Perry's guns in Wendell.

7/14 8:00-3:30 2 days only.
A Ruger rep will be on hand. Supposedly they have 40 SR1911's. Says to low to advertise for the price.

For those looking for a SR1911 this could be your chance.

Actually I am a little miffed that this was posted on here - this event is being held at a local gun shop for local folks. I plan to attend on Saturday and would be rather upset if I found out that folks from other areas purchased these guns via telephone or internet before I had a chance to get there. Call me selfish but that is just how I feel about it.

I knew about it and I live in Ohio. It's no big secret. Go to the Ruger website, click on Links of Interest, then select Ruger Events. There you will see every Ruger Days event everywhere in the country for the rest of the year.

I already asked for a vacation day so I can attend the next one thats remotely close to me.

Went to Perry's today and they sold all 40 of those SR1911's by 3PM on Friday. I knew I should have gone there yesterday - and by the way they were all sold IN HOUSE - they received HUNDREDS of requests to buy the guns via emails and telephone including several calls wanting to buy ALL 40 OF THEM but Mr Perry refused to sell any of them except IN THE STORE. I thanked Mr. Perry personally for that even though I did not get one. There were 3 Ruger Reps there and they answered any questions asked. One lady even had her P90 and one of the reps checked a problem with it for her and recommended she return it to the factory for repair or replacement.

I don't know why?

Many times forum members posted about the availability of SR1911's or other hard to find guns from all over the country. It’s first come first served. I was surprised he raised them up 70.00. While I was there about 10:30 or so on Friday they had a couple stacks of the SR1911's. One guy bought one while I was buying my SP101 22. Yeah it might have been a local event but it's open to the public. They send email flyers out to anyone who wants to receive them. I'm sure you'd like to know about some let's say in Charlotte and you’re not a local. Personally I think this is a little childish but that’s what makes the world go around.
Like the old saying, If you snooze you lose.

As I said above I was glad to see that Perry's would only sell to in house buyers but I am sure some other dealers would not handle it that way.

Raleigh Gun Show about a month ago guy had new SR1911 on his table was asking $950 for it. I mentioned that was a couple hundred over MSRP and he said, "GO BUY ONE ELSEWHERE THEN." I suppose someone out there who really wanted one would pay the price -

Overall the prices at Perry's were better than RETAIL but not super sale deals. They are the only shop in that area and a 30 to 45 minute ride out from Raleigh so their prices tend to be a bit higher than Fuquay or Sovereign Guns in my opinion. If they had the Stainless Blackhawk .357Mag 6.5" on hand I would have bought it but they did not and I was really tempted to buy that Ruger 22/45 LITE but holding out for the Blackhawk to go with my .357 Marlin 1894CSS .....

If they had had an SR1911 at Perry's I would have taken one but I will wait it out now until I pick up my .357 Blackhawk. Hopefully Ruger will be getting ahead on production. Come to think of it I did not ask the Factory Reps that question. I wonder if anyone else did and what they had to say about that . . . .
