LC9 Magazine Issue

Seem to be having a problem with one of my factory magazines. On the last round, the slide doesn't lock open and the mag won't pop out when I eject it. I changed mags and the other one works just fine. I compared the two mags and find no differance in either. Both are factory mags and both are clean. Any ideas? Does Ruger have the same warranty on mags as they do on their guns? I didn't purchase the extra mag from Ruger, but from a gun show.

Id email Ruger, I see no reason they wouldn't warranty it.

By chance, did you change out bottom plate of that magazine? Or perhaps someone did before you bought it? Regardless, without letting spring escape [springs can be sneaky], remove bottom plate. Withdraw spring, in replace it by turning it around, so that the end that came out first is returned first. Then, replace plate and test at range. That there is a great effort to fit seven rounds into the magazine is an indication the spring is Ina reversed position.

Definite +1 to what he said. He is correct.

Well I took both mags apart to compare them and the spring on the mag that doesn't work correctly is a little more than 2 twists longer and appears to be a little stretched. Don't a clue how that could have happened.

Makes me wonder if it's genuine Ruger since you say you bought it at a gun show. Was it supposed to be brand new? Or used? Used could answer a lot.

spring has sprung...or not?

Ok,
Which is the problem mag?
Long or short?

And what are the lengths thereof?

Advice will be dependant upon the answer, But
I bet you can figure it out.

Good luck, Paul

Brand new in package. No marks on it at all. You can see the Ruger emblem in the photo and it says "Made in Italy" just like the original mag does. I put one shell in the mag and ejected it from the gun and it pops right out like an empty mag should. But empty, the only thing it will do is unlock from the gun. You have to pull it out. All other mags in all my other guns, the mag will pop out and land in your lap.
