LCP reassemble issues

Ok, looking for helpful hints with putting the pin back in my LCP when reassembling it. I really have hard time and have to force it. Pin does not feel all that well built and am afraid one of these times it will break. Any advice will be much appreciated. I have tried doing it at an angle as book says too but still an issue. I also take pressure off by holding slide slightly back.

There's a trick to it. Notice there's a spring located across the bottom portion of the hole the pin goes in. Look in your owners manual pgs 28 & 29, part #20. That spring is there to help retain the takedown pin in place. That's what's causing your problem when you try to put the pin back in [it works just as hard to "retain" the spring out of the hole as it does to retain the pin in the hole!. So the trick is to get the nose of the pin up over the spring [at an upward angle and then apply a little downward pressure as you gently push the pin inward while bringing the pin angle up to align correctly with the hole.

Try different angles until you find just the right one, apply a little downward pressure on the tip as you apply inward pressure, bring the pin up on the correct angle so as to align correctly with the hole and BINGO .. the pin will practically fall in!

Takes a little practice until you get the right combination of angles coordinated with downward and inward pressure.

If someone knows a better way and/or explanation, I'm ALL ears.

trucker that's exactly the same way I do mine I've never had a problem getting the pin back in. I saw on one of the posts that someones on their third take down pin as they keep breaking. I can't figure that one out.

Keep in mind that the manual describes inserting the pin with the slide upside down.

Trucker described it with the slide up.
