SR9 or XD

Hello all
i have been looking at getting a SR1911 but as stated on my other thread i can't get one in california without going through a lot of loopholes and work, so i am going to be going with my second choice a Ruger SR9. however a couple of weeks ago at the range i got to shot a XD 9 subcompact and shot really well with it. It fit like a glove and had no issues whatsoever. i have yet to hold a SR9 let alone shoot it but i am loyal to made in the USA and the XD is from Croatia. I am also very fond of my SR22 and really like the quality that i have found Ruger to have hense i would rather get the SR9. So here is what i need help with. is there anyone who has shot both and has an opinion on what one they like better? i know most are going to say whatever feels better in the hand and i am going to go this weekend to my LGS to see if they have one i can hold but right now i am just looking at shootabilty and function.
Thanks in advance!

I Have shot both extensively (I owned a SR9 for a little while) and the SR9 just seems like a much better firearm however they are both great guns.

I have an SR9c, but I have shot my friends xd quite a bit. For me, the SR9c fits me a lot better, so I shoot it better. The xd's are great guns though, really rugged and pretty good factory triggers.

I always wanted an XD too, but owning an SR9 changed my mind. I'm sure the XD is a fine pistol, but I've had my SR9 for over two years and it's been 100% flawless and the trigger gets better and better the more you shoot it. I've put thousands of rounds through mine and it's never had a single failure of any kind.

I have owned an XD40 and an XD9SC.
I have also owned an SR9 and an SR9C.
While the SR9's have fit my hands better
for the purpose intended, I have found
the XD's easier to maintain. IMO, the XD's
are easier to disasemble, clean and lube.
All that being said, out of the pistols listed
the only one that I still have is the SR9C.

what makes the disassembly and cleaning of the xd easier then the SR9 in your opinion?

I love my SR9 but I do plan on getting an XD .45 compact at some point. My SR9 has been nothing but great though.

A couple months ago I shot a XD40SC and like you it fit my hand like a glove and I really liked shooting it.About 2 weeks ago I rented a SR9 and a XD(m)9(they didn't have any XDs for rent) trying to decide whether to buy one of these or a Glock 19 which I had shot before.I feel all 3 were fine guns but the Springfield was the one that stood out for me personally.I liked the way it felt and handled and of course shot.I am sure I would have been happy with anyone of these. It was just one of those situations that I knew which one was for me when I was done.

A week ago I bought the XD(m)9 compact and absolutely love it.I know you were asking about the XD series but after shooting the .40 I still think I would have bought the S.A. even if there was no (m).By the way I am a big Ruger guy and like to buy American also.I just fell in love with the Springfield.

I have the SR9c, SR40c, XD9SC, and XDm40 compact. I like them all. Choose the one that fits in your hand the best.

It really sucks the crap we have to go through in this country to exercise our 2nd ammendment right.Obviously living in California you have more to deal with then I do in Ohio.Since you have already shot the S.A. go handle the SR9 and shoot it if possible.Everybody who has responded to your post seems to have high opinions of both guns.I really don't think you can make a bad decision.

Let us know what happens and give us a range report. It's always great to get a new gun.I'm sure you'll enjoy either one.

Id say go with whatever fits your hands better. I like the SR9 because its nice and slim in the grip and in the slide. Nice tapered angles in it. The XD is a little blocky for me but I am thinking about the .45 compact since it has the best mix of options and still is a double stack. If Ruger makes a double stack .45, it might be a different story

If you are willing to add an M to the end of the XD you'll be happier with the trigger and accuracy.

I've had both, still own the XDm.

Both are fine guns, it largely depends on which handles better for you.

+1

There is no "best gun", just the gun that works best for YOU.
