| A Pleasure of a Pistol...
Had been on a waiting list since October 2011. Got the call last Wednesday and picked it up on Saturday. Put my first 150 rounds through it. No feed or extraction problems at all. Very tight groups right out of the box. Relatively smooth trigger pull with a guesstimated 5 to 6 lb pull.
I love her. She's a keeper!

Finally saw my first SR1911, in fact I saw several. One gun shop had seven them went to another and they had some. Priced at $700. Ruger must be catching up.

After I retired from the Police Dept I took a job at my local gunstore. Since the Sr1911 has been announced we have gotten just one in. The owner asked me to wait until they started coming in regularly before I bought one. Well!!!!!!!!!!! We are still waiting for our second one to arrive. At this rate I'll be 80 before I get one. LOL. I did handle the one that came in and the fit and finish was fantastic. The trigger pull was crisp with no creep just as it should be, Ruger really hit a homerun with this gun they just need to get their sh*t together and start producing them so even a mom and pop store like mine can get them at least once in awhile. we're not a kitchen table FFL either this store does over 1.5 million in sales yearly. Right now we have over 200+ firearms in stock. There is no rhyme or reason as how they are allocated out to the distributors and dealers. Sorry my hijack Rant is over. Congrats on your new SR1911. Maybe someday I'll join you as a proud owner. As far as price my owner marked it up a little over $100 over wholesale. We sold it for $645.99

I told them to make someone else's day with it. I've only got 150 rounds thru it but I love this gun!
Edit: I had a friend shoot mine on Sunday, first time he ever shot a 1911, he just called and told me he picked one up at D&L. Got him hooked on it on Sunday, he owns one on Tuesday (of course, its in jail until next Wednesday.)

After asking about buying one May of last year, I finally got a call Tuesday from my LGS that he got an SR1911 & would let me have it for his original price quote of $617.00 if I wanted it. It's probably a good price, but I told him I wasn't in the market for one anymore & told him to sell it to somone else. After waiting for over a year, I lost interest and bought a couple Berettas & a USP 45 instead. I looked one over at a gun show a couple moths ago and wasn't overly impressed with it so for the moment I'm sticking with my SR9 as my only Ruger.

Makes not much sense because you can buy 8 round that are flush, although some say reliability is less when 8 are crammed into length of magwell. I added several 8 round flush style from Kimber and Chip, no issues. | Who makes an 8 round that fits flush in a SR1911?

I have a few Chip McCormick's that I included with an order of other stuff from Midway. Link below, they are fine - can get stainless for $2 more. Picked up two Kimber black 8 round at Sportsman, they are great, no problems at range or matches so when I carry 1911 I use them. I think I paid $17.99 for black, they also had stainless for a few bucks more - I saw no need for stainless. Hope that helps you. Shooting Star Mag 1911 Government Commander 45 ACP 8-Round Steel Blue
