Ruger/Prescott Cust Service - Didn't See THIS Coming (Issue Resolved)

I returned my SR9 to Prescott last month to address the issues noted in this thread Different Kind of Barrel Peening??

UPS delivered my SR9 today, and I was pleased to read the notes that spelled out the work that was done on my SR9. It included:
- barrel and slide replacement
- frame replacement
- camblock, trigger bar assembly, trigger bar reset all replaced
- striker assembly, striker blocker & spring, striker cover all replaced
- new mag latch assembly and pin all replaced
- 30 rounds of black hills ammo test fired no malfs.

Long story short, I got a brand new OD green SR9 with the latest Gen 3 "D" shaped mag release and all new components, all for FREE! I should be the happiest Ruger SR9 owner in the USA right!?!?!

WRONG!!! Took it apart and was appalled to find that there IS NO RIFLING WHATSOEVER INSIDE THE BARREL. It smooth as a babies behind, here's pics to prove it.

What the heck happened here??? How could this have gotten out of the factory? It will have to go back again and I'll be without for several weeks. Not a real issue for me I have other toys to keep me occupied. But really, you give me a smooth barrel, tell my you test fired it and all is OK? I'd like to see that target, probably grouped worse than birdshot out of a shotgun.

You might want to get on the Ruger site and leave a message to the CEO along with those pictures. It's great they gave you a new gun "But" it would be nice if it was functional. There isn't any excuse for this happening.

Ruger will do anything to get that gun back. They are at your mercy now. BATF would chew them a new one and probably give them a heavy fine.

Years ago at the GS I worked at we got a Colt Python with a unrifled barrel. Colt jumped through the hoops to get that Python back.

I'm sure Ruger will more than make it up to you if you return it. So much for their QC and the 30 rnds of ammo fired. I'm sure they got real good accuracy.

I think maybe their plant is too close to the border.

Some poor gunsmith went through all the trouble to completely assemble a pistol, had it test fired for function, and the barrel was a piece of scrap. Bet you have company in being dissapointed He will be as unhappy as you are and so will some supervisor.

Come on Ruger, QC!!!!!!!!!!!

As already mentioned, contact the CEO and refer to the original incident records so he can look it up on their end and give him a link to this thread.

They sent you the new SR9ALSS "Auto Loading Shot Shell" model. Pretty cool!

I hate to say it though but seeing stuff like this makes me second guess getting another Ruger.

Wow...that is absolutely horrible. I have been skeptical of all of this Ruger quality control talk lately, but this thread really proves that they are having serious problems.

Unacceptable.

I would really appreciate hearing how this plays out as I am looking to purchase another pistol. I have the SR9, SR9C, LC9, and LCP. My goal is to end up with a full frame pistol for me, my wife, and my two boys. Depending how this goes I may end up buying a couple more XDs as my .40 caliber subcompact is very reliable. Wow that is crazy.

Tell them you want it replaced with a SR1911 to make up for your trouble and hassle.

Couldn't they just send you a new barrel? Or does it have to be fitted to your gun?

Certainly contact them and tell them about this, but it would be interesting to take it to the range and fire a few rounds just to see how it groups.
