The official word was that they had received orders for over 1 million guns in the first quarter of this year and production is so buried that they wouldn't be accepting any new orders till the end of May.
We can only hope that they will use some of this breathing room to tighten up on some of the QA issues we have seen of late.

I didnt know about my super rough forcing cone until looking at this threat and I bought that around July last year. My SR9 barrel also has some tool marks and I bought that in Dec 2010 so its not recent.
Also DArBad, my Mark III, while doesn't lock back all the time (blame the elcheapo 500 box ammo) is an awesome gun

Purchased my SR9c in 9/2010. My chamber shows one small tooling line around the chamber that is so shallow I can't even feel it with the point of a dental pic. Rest of the chamber and ramping of the rifling is smooth as a babies butt.
Obviously it wasn't manufactured on the same machine, or if it was, it was before the point burned/broke off the cutting tool.
The fact that both of Johns 2 barrels ever made it down the production line and through final inspection and proof firing just leaves me speechless. How can you ever explain something like that???

Sal | My SR9 is somewhat similar, pretty mild tool marks and I don't know if I should complain or not but my SP101 forcing cone is ROUGH. If im sending one back, I might as well get them to send me a new barrel for the other. I better get a free hat or something, jeez.

My replacement barrel arrived today, and it shows very, very slight/mild markings. Nothing like what I received before as documented in post# 101. Will stop at the range after work tomorrow and see how it goes. I think I can say my SR9 customer servce experience is finally done.

Look at the bright side. If it was a S&W that work would have taken at least nine months. If it was a Remington they would have done nothing. |

No offense to anyone hear. I am not trying to cause trouble or anything, I posted a thread and joined because I am considering my first Ruger...I think I'll pass. It is unacceptable for a barrel to get past QC in poor condition twice. Not to mention the other problems that have people returning their handguns for repair. Like I said, I am not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I don't feel confident buying a Ruger. Thanks to everyone who responded to my thread. Frank.

Frank. | I think I would understand this kind of reasoning if Ruger hadn't righted things or left him without a gun that he had paid for...but to each his own.
I've owned a few Rugers now and I for one am a Ruger Fan/guy/lover. I just picked up an SR1911 and feel it had been the best purchase I've made in terms of firearms (we'll see how I feel after I get it to the range for the first time).
Good luck on finding a new gun and hopefully whatever forum you join next won't scare you off from purchasing that brand.

There's a reason there are so many good comments. Consider the few negative comments in light of the internet magnifying complaints by at least a factor of 5. People ALWAYS post problems or issues, but posting praise is significantly less frequent.
Yes, it has been a comedy of errors with customer service on my particular SR9, but again, this should not be considered as indicative of Ruger CS overall. Remember, other than some cosmetic issues, I sent a fully functional well used SR9 to them, and by next week, will have received a fully functional BRAND NEW SR9 from Ruger. I've had some bad luck, and it's just that. Even Ruger CS is flabergasted over how the wrong mags were sent, but they are already making it right. At the end of the day, I shake my head and chuckle at this. What else can I do?
I don't care for the Ruger bashing that's taken place in this and other threads, as they say - he who is without sin... Nobody and no organization is perfect, but the good ones are willing to see the opportunities for improvement and actually improve. The ones that don't do not survive long. I'm sure there's quite a bit of activity taking place at Ruger to determine exactly what went wrong here and implement process changes to make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm OK with being the 'poster child' for what went wrong. | All I can say John is that you're a good man to put this post up after what you went thru. A true Ruger man. I just hope all our trust in Ruger is not misplaced. I've been a big fan of Ruger for years. I hope they pick things up again. I still want my SR1911. I've got Kimber Pro Carry II which was over $900.and while it's a nice gun. I don't see anything better than what Ruger turns out. |
