I am curious (as someone who is saving his pennies for one) what mods, both practical and aesthetic people have made to their SR1911's. Pics would be great if applicable. I am thinking we may possibly swap some of the blued/black parts out for stainless ones.

The only thing I have done to mine is change the grip panels for a set of Hogue wrap around finger grips. I think it ties the black components in nicely.

Nice! Notice any difference having the finger grips from an accuracy standpoint?

This is what I have had on all my full size bottom feeders, so it is what I am used to. I have found, for me, it makes my grip more consistent, therefore more accurate.

I'm thinking about the Talo version. What I might do is put on some Pachmyer combat classic grips, find someone to cut a bomar sight, and I will certainly get rid of that hammer and trigger blade (that is the aesthetics, those two parts don't appeal to me at all, I will go with a solid stainless short trigger and a S&W skeletonized hammer).

Local store had the Talo version, first time I actually got to see the SR1911 in person, can't say I am keen on the slide of the Talo version, but that's personal preference I think.

I'm going to shoot the stuffing out of it, as is, for now. I liked the feel of the trigger right from the start. I am an average shot and I primarily practice with the handguns in the 25 yd. range. Anything longer than that and I grab a long gun.

I can't wait, the wife and and I are both fairly new to firearms n general. We had a chance to fire a friends 1911 (Springfield Loaded), and afterward we both KNEW we had to have one, and the Ruger looks to be a great balance of fit and finish and price (AND being 100% made in the US)

Not a thing wrong with that either. Thinking about a beavertail/grip safety to match the frame however. Would love to hear from folks who have done that.

None of them every seem to make it to my town. I've been waiting since day one to buy one.

Only one I have seen local is the Talo edition. LGS said they got a bunch in the beginning but nothing much since then. I hope Ruger can't bump things up (without compromising quality) soon or they may miss the boat here. Lots of people saving up, getting frustrated, and picking something else.

New grips, a bit sticker and I like the contrast. On ruger shopping page for $14.

I am wondering if a black/blued trigger would look nice in this.
