| LCP accuracy.
First off I would like to say that my new LCP is absolute joy to carry. But I am rather dissapointed with its accuracy. At only 5 steps it will shoot 3-4 inches low, and usually to the right. Myself and my brother both got similar results. Was shooting Winchester 92gr. and Remington 95gr. I love this gun but is this the best it will do. I only have 150 rounds through it. Will more make a difference. Thanks Jason.

i only shot one a few times (a total of maybe a hundred rounds), and while the sights leave much to be desired, when i could get a good sight picture the gun itself was extremely accurate (surprisingly so). i was using cheap American Eagles.
in all fairness, it was a rental gun, so i am sure it was quite broken in by the time i shot it.
the gun was very accurate. SHOOTING it accurately is a whole other story. |

I usually don't go out much past 5 yards and mine is pretty accurate. It's just a pain to shoot because of it's size but the groups I get at 5 yards are what I would consider adequate for a small .380 mouse gun. I'll put it this way, if the target was a human at 5 yards I can pretty much 100% guarantee I won't miss.

Guess I was just expecting to much, didn't expect it to shoot that low. It groups well, guess the sights are off.

Well it's possible that yours does shoot low for some reason. It happens. Of course it's hard to say for sure because I can't see you actually shoot. It could be something you are doing like flinching at the last second. I know when I do flinch I usually miss low to the left but when it happens I pretty much already know what I did before the bullet even hits the target.
Next time you are at the range try sitting down and bench resting the shots. Try to keep the gun as stable as possible. If it's still hitting low then maybe you just got unlucky with that particular gun.

Shooting low is often the result of breaking your wrist down in anticipation of recoil and/or milking the grip. Both of which could be very prevelant in a snappy little LCP with a tiny grip. It takes a lot of rounds (and I mean a LOT) to get your fundamentals ground into muscle memory, so when you are evaluating a new gun like the LCP it always helps to go through a mental checklist and really focus on the basics; grip, support, stance, trigger pull, etc. If you go through the process and concentrate and it's still shooting low, then it may well be the gun. Although I will add that I rarely use the "sights" on my LCP. I prefer point shooting on mouse guns and doing so with the LCP has yielded very good results.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to put some more rounds through it next weekend although me and my brother both shot the same, were both pretty novice handgun shooters.

I agree with most of what is said. I am usually a full size to subcompact size handgun shooter and bought a LCP and it now replaces both...once I had rounds through the gun and got the muscle memory this gun is very accurate and I have had multiple compliments on how accurately I shot the gun in a couple advanced CPL classes that I have taken at my local gun range. I come from a LEO background so I have more handgun training than most and it still took a couple hundred rounds to get used to the gun. Once I did I was dead accurate to 10 yards. Also the gun doesn't really have sights...just kinda a point and shoot gun but with practice can be a solid carry gun for how small it is.

Afternoon Chasin Tail
My LCP shoots a bit low at 5 yards using over the counter white box rounds.
As mentioned above-- suggested you put a few hundred rounds through it to become more at ease with it. Might try a bit of white paint on the rear upper part of the front sight (that helped me quite a bit)
Once you can shoot a (consistent) 6” group with it at 10-15 feet then try some high power stuff or whatever you intend to carry in it.
Personally I haven’t been that impressed with the target type accuracy of my LCP but as a point and shoot 3’ defense gun it will work if needed.

I have been continually impressed with my LCP's accuracy considering its small size and minimal sights. I do BETTER with it than most of my other guns! Strange but true. The fact that I always shoot (and carry) it with the 10-rd. ProMag (with a slightly tightened-up mag-well alteration) helps due to the extra grip support.

Mine shoots dead on @ 7 yards. Getting quick follow ups, double taps is not as easy as with the P380, nor as accurate.

Put a heavy trigger on a piece of plastic the size of a biscuit and have it spit out tiny missles at 750 miles per hour and you want accuracy?
Just point it and pull the trigger until you develope enough muscle memory to get all of them, or at least some of them, on center mass.
Those little things are only designed to give you enough time to run away. |

With the long and hard trigger pull the Lpc has I could imagine some wrist break when shooting causing low poi. If u can't correct this with practice I'd look at contacting ruger if it's off to the point u dnt trust making a accurate shot.

Get you a target pistol if you want to shoot that accurate. Mine shoot low but dead center with me using the sights. I now use the slide as I line up my shots and shoot dead on. I didn't buy it to shoot targets. I bought it cause of it's size, light weight, and how easy it is to carry.
