| trigger pull on an SR9
I was considering buying one until I tried my friend's. That trigger pull Must have been 20 #s. Very disappointed. Is that the same for all of them? Is the C like that also? Is there a relatively quick and easy fix?

Must be an early model SR9. Do yourself a favor and handle one at your LGS. The 9c trigger is awesome - to me, probably the best stock trigger of any polymer gun on the market!

I don't own an SR9 or SR9C, but have dry fired several of them at the LGS. The early ones were fairly heavy and gritty, but more like 9-10lbs. The Ghost connector came out to alleviate that issue (and I believe is still available). Eventually Ruger updated the factory trigger to be a little lighter and smoother. From day one the SR9C has always had a very good trigger, short and firm with a very clean break. Now the SR9 and SR9C share the same basic trigger group. So I am betting your buddy's SR9 was either very early production or some other issue exists with his gun.

Something not right there. Is this a S/N prefix 331- model with D-shaped mag release and SR9C shaped takedown pin?
Trigger pull on a SR9 is equivalent to a stock Glock and is in the 5.5 - 6.5 range with a smooth and relatively short (for a polymer striker-fired pistol) takeup and crisp reset. It ain't no 1911 but it's got one of the best stock triggers of any polymer striker-fired pistol, imho. At least the most latest version...

Howdy all....
I have the SR9 & will pick up the "C" when it arrives at my dealer's shop ...I really like the feel of the SR9 but have trouble as a cary gun, so will just shelf it for now & will try the "C" model next.... Both will be in the 9MM, so not a problem with the ammo purchased....
Just add another notch to the collection family.... Oh Yea....."Here we go" !!!!
Peace !

The SR9C trigger trumps any Glock trigger right out of the box and gets better as you use it.
Google up Hickcock45's You Tube reviews on the SR9C, he says it's the best trigger out there today.

Same trigger as the SR9c as I understand it. I have a new SR9, very good gun.

I had an early SR9. The trigger was a little stiff, but not too bad.
Once it was sent in for the recall (took 10 days) the trigger was
absolutely fantastic. Sold it to a guy at work and he loves it.

Probably an older gun or a display gun that was dry fired alot with the mag out, that will take a toll on the striker and the disconnector. The newer model SR9's have the updated firecontrol group like the SR9c and SR40.
The best thing to do when you get it is to clean it completely as in detail strip it and clean the striker channel and the striker spring channel in the striker. Ideally you'd polish and deburr all the fire control surfaces then clean and lightly relube it. That makes a great trigger. Then you can add parts if your not happy.

I added the Ghost Ultimate to my SR9, and removed the mag disconnect, now it is close to my SR9C. Don't give up on the SR9, for $25 you can make it good.

That's why I got rid of mine. The trigger was an abominable 12 #, as close as I could measure it. They have improved the trigger on the new ones, I'm told, and I may have to get another one. The one I had was accurate and fun to shoot, even with the terrible trigger.FWIW, I just installed the Ghost Ultimate on my Glock 19, and it improved the trigger a bunch. That's a drop in part, too.

I haven’t shot the 9c yet but have 2425 flawless rounds thru the SR9. I never felt the trigger on the SR9 was bad but it feels like the Ghost has smoothed it out with a very nice clean break. I hope to get some comparison shooting in this weekend.
