I shoot in SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) matches and they have a Wild Bunch category that mandates a 1911 pistol. Either a standard 1911 (like a 1911A1) or a 'modern' 1911 can be used. I hope Ruger comes out with a SR1911A1 style ~ that would be just plain cool! Either way, I WILL invest in one of these

Hmm... the $3,000 Nighthawk Tactical Enforcer also has a integral plunger tube.

Apparently, having staked tubes come loose is a far more common problem than damage to or destruction of the tube itself......

I have heard of the plunger tube getting dented...................................while restaking a loose tube. Negated by having an integral tube. Put me on the list of those that want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked an honest question. How did you dent a plunger tube? I really would like to know how this happens.

I'm sure the cast tube will be much stouter that the old staked on type. I think Ruger has finely built a SA I would trust other than the 22

The odds of the plunger tube getting loose are infinitely greater than the chances of it getting dented, IMO. I've had several score 1911s over the past 40 years and I've never had a dented plunger tube. I have had a few get loose, however.

Guns are not illegal here. Our choices are not as unlimited as yours.
We just have to jump through more hoops than you guys, and for longer to get them.
Currently own a MK III 22/45, coming is a CZ, Para & Beretta in 9mm.
All in stainless.

Lighten up mate, I'm sure the guys are only expressing their opinions as well.
A lot of people have been waiting for this gun for a while, and from all reports it should be a cracker. I have only heard excellent reports of it.
I am also interested in how you can dent a plunger tube? Working loose I can understand. Anyway, Ruger stands behind their product, always have.
