I've never seen one yet either.
This was a tongue in cheek thread when I first posted originally. Would have never expected 18,000+ views.

There's an old guy that hangs out at my range who is a) very knowledgeable about shooting and reloading but b) VERY set in his opinions. At his age though, I'm sure I will be too, atleast set in my opinions
Anyway, I showed him my SR1911 and he fiddled with it a bit and said it wasn't as tight as his Taurus and he'll keep that.
Bottom line, you buy guns because YOU like it, not because it's the 'best' which is very subjective to user opinion.
For me, I haven't found anything not to like about ANY of my Rugers except the fact I don't have more of them.

Ordered my Sr1911 ten months ago and paid $629.95 plus tax for it. Was well worth the wait, a beautiful weapon, it is dead on accurate out of the box and the fit and finish is absolutely perfect. The only complaint i have is that this work of art introduced on the 100 th. Anniversary of the 1911 should have come in a much nicer case even if they had to raise the price a few dollars. They could have done 100 things different, but what they did do seemed to be what a lot of people like judging from the demand.

I've got two 1911's one kimber and one SR1911. A kimber version like a SR1911 is about$1300-$1400. I've got a Pro carry II black Aluminium frame yes it's lighter. Has to have 500 rounds thru it to break it in . Change the recoil spring every 800 rounds, plastic main spring housing, one cheap black mag. All this for $900. I still like the Kimber but I love the Sr1911. The only reason I bought the Kimber was I got tired of waiting for SR1911. I just saw on the Kimber forum that the Denver police are no longer allowed to use Kimbers because of jamming problems. Give me a Ruger any day. Take out of the box clean it and shoot it.

I've shot handguns for just over 50 years now...and this one, the SR1911, is the best pistol right out of the box, new, that I've ever owned. I've had better finished and more accurate revolvers, but this auto is the best pistolto date. Accurate, reliable, well finished, in SS, with good "after market" features not available on the original Colts, it's a great gun. Rod

The 1911 has been around for a 100 years. There are many manufactures, clones. What really matters is how satisfied you are with your 1911. Critics will tell you anything and everything….

Yep..... I've had to find that out for myself.
It's that no good that I would go out and buy another one in a heartbeat..... |

Finally picked mine up from layaway. Can't wait to get to the range and run a few through it. I was on a waiting list for a year, now a SR1911 is finally in my hands....!!! Its my first 1911 to boot as well.

I looked and looked for an SR1911 back in January...couldn't be found. I wound up buying a Springfield (great weapon BTW!!). I found a few of the SR's at the Dallas Gun Show over the weekend and they ARE nice. Very smooth and very well finished; first ones I've actually been able to pick up and look at. They have gotten good reviews so far, so I'm saving up my lunch money again!! I've owned quite a few Rugers over the years and they are all good quality weapons. I've no reason to think the SR1911 won't be the same!

Have many 1911s by half a dozen different manufacturers. All are pretty good (except maybe the Ballester Molina); my SR1911 doesn't take a back seat to any of them. I've had it for about 11 months and have put hundreds of rounds, all handloads, through it. Failed to feed properly just once, account of the use of a dirty powder with no cleaning.
Has been one of my better purchases. Cost me more than some of the prices I see quoted here but, then, I've been shooting it for nearly a year.
