I would never carry a gun without 1 in the chamber and with the safety on. If you have a good holster like some of these people are saying then I don't see a problem with it. Id rather have my gun ready to fire in a bad situation then to have to fumble with racking the slide or having to find the safety.

I make a policy of not telling people how to make their choices. But for me I carry with a round in the chamber. Most modern guns are designed to be carried loaded. I am sure the Ruger is.

I always carry my SR9c with one in the chamber and the safety on, but I don't carry +1.

RockDoctor will become famous soon enough
When I appendix carry the SR9c sometimes, it's with one in the chamber and safety on.

Why not +1? What's the argument for that?

Always chambered. I have the SR40C, and usually leave the safety off. My main CCW is a Shield 9mm, with no thumb safety. I would be fine with the SR40C not having one, but no choice with that line of guns.

Less handling when loading the gun after cleaning it. If I unload my gun for some reason, I have somewhere to put that round. Occasionally read about feeding problems (not SR9c specific) when the mag is topped off.

I carry with one spare mag (in a mag restricted state), and If 20 rounds isn't enough, I don't know what 21 is going to do for me. Bottom line, I'm just not concerned about that 1 extra round.

Thanks. I was expecting to hear something about spring life or experiencing the feed problem you mentioned when topped-up. I've always carried mine 10+1 and for home defense 17+1. I've never had a problem when firing from that condition.
