| After a long drought I finally picked up another "P"
For a dozen years I carried a P85 aboard our 42' sailboat to ward off pirates while cruising the Caribbean. On our way back to the U.S. I ran into a fellow cruiser heading down island, and I let him talk me into selling it.
Last week I stumbled on a nice P89 that I just couldn't resist. Came with 4 mags and a range bag for $250 out the door. Not a wear mark on the gun anywhere. I polished the exterior chamber area of the barrel. Have yet to shoot it.
I know many see the P-series as ugly ducks, but I just don't see that. I've always admired them for their functional beauty and serious lines.

Congrats on a nice find. If it shoots as good as it looks, it'll be a keeper (no ugly ducks in the P series lineup IMHO).

Nice! I had to pay 300 to get my P89, and I only got 2 magazines. Try it with Hogue grips, they made mine feel(and look) much nicer.

That is a fine looking firearm. Except for it being a 9mm, I like it. I agree with Tacticool, put on aset of Hogues. I have some on my P944, and it feels so SO much better than the factory grips.

I agree with the other posters, that is a good looking pistol. I would suggest that you save the stock grips and install a set of Hogues, they are more comfortable.

semper, because we all know that the 40 is miles ahead of the 9mm, its just plain fact...regardless of the ballistics... |

Thanks for the positive feedback. I've been thinking about whether I want to just slap on a set of Hogues or bite the $230 bullet for a set of Crimson Trace laser grips. Seems a bit crazy to spend almost as much on a set of grips as I did for the gun.
Holsters - Bianchi has their UM84ii (civilian version of the M12) that is slightly shorter, and according to them, the right fit for our P-series guns. Unfortunately they run $75-85. The M12 can be had on eBay for $20 shipped. I took a chance that it would fit and it does, perfectly.

You won't be disappointed by the Hogues. Every time I hold the gun, I'm glad I bought them. It didn't feel bad, by any means, with the stock grips, but with the Hogues, it just feels right.

Great find...good looking gun and not too old....i think the 312 serial #
is late 90's????(someone on this site will know for sure)
I love the p series guns, but finding a good holster is tricky...i think the military m9/beretta holsters are the wway to go.....The Glock 17 holsters will fit some Rugers.
Ruger.com sellls a nice leather one in their online showroom.
Enjoy
