If problems persist after two more boxes I will have ruger deal with it. I may see if they will replace sight too though I ordered the laserlyte. I will not install that until I address the issues. I have even ordered a crossbreed supertuck deluxe so I am committed to this gun.
No issues with my 22/45RP, LCR, or 10/22.
I think it sucks that you must use a mallet to adjust sight for wind.
Thanks and I will keep you up to date. | I'm not sure I like the sound of what your dealer is telling you. I cleaned my SR9c right out of the box the first night I had it according to the videos on the Ruger website, which includes how to clean the striker. Ruger Videos
Over 500 rds downrange and I have not had a single problem with it using American Eagle 124gr FMJ. On my first range trip one of the RSO's came over and told me another Ruger owner came out with his SR9 and had nothing but problems that turned out to be due to not cleaning all the grease that it comes shipped in.
That being said, I agree that if you have problems like you were describing before, especially doublefiring, I would get in contact with Ruger ASAP.

Mine has been perfect from day one, even after discovering later how gunky the stiker was. The only malfunctions I have ever seen in my gun was a time at the range when my brother was running some of his handloads through it. Heck, that same ammo didn't even work 100% in his revolver.

Your dealer sounds suspect. Anyone would say that it's at least worth a shot or try to help you out.

Ruger told me to send it back to look at it, but I lost confidence in it and got discouraged. I still haven't decided what to do with it.
Any gun should be ready to rock out of the box! Ruger does not state anywhere that a break in period is required for these guns.
I have never had a single problem with any of the other five Ruger pistols I own.
The SR series is not one of thier better efforts, just a fact! | Sorry I don't buy your story. I remember reading about your troubles over the last few months and the story keeps changing.
You bought two SR9c, you claimed you sold both of them (1/25/2011). Now you won't shoot one and don't know what to do with it...
Once at least one of them had been fixed cuz you said you ran 300 rounds thru it just fine.
You've claimed to own every Ruger Semi auto available, etc. (what about SR40? SR9?)
The story keeps changing... You'd be more believable if your story was consistent.

2/08/2011 My SR9C issues
I own a Ruger LCP, LCR, P95, P345,P94, and an SR9C. The only Ruger I've had a problem with was the SR9C. I've had the light primer strikes, the hair trigger you mentioned, and the slide failing to lock back after the last round. There are more problems with these guns such as the trigger failing to reset and of pins coming loose. I will never shoot my SR9C again, its too unreliable. I have a LC9 on order to replace it. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AN SR9C to anybody!
1/25/2011 Hello and picking up my SR9c
Welcome to the forum. I own every Ruger semi auto available. I have owned 2 sr9c's and I got rid of both of them. I had problems with both of them. A lot of light primer strikes, slide not locking back after last shot, hair trigger problems. I don't think these pistols are very reliable. Ruger dropped the ball on that model. I would recommend you do more research or cosider a Ruger P95 for your first gun.
12/04/2010 SP9c problem
These pistols are notorious for light strikes. I had the same problem with my SR9C. I also had a problem with the slide not locking back on an empty magazine. Try field stripping the gun including removing the firing pin and cleaning really good. I use Qtips to clean the slot for the firing pin. Follow the instructions for removing the firing pin on the Ruger web site. This seemed to help me, I've put at least 300 rounds through mine since cleaning and and I haven't had a problem. If you continue to have problems call Ruger. Good luck

Buy a GLOCK!!!!!!
SR9C problems (10/20/2010) SR9C problems
New stainless sr9c, slide did not lock back several times using federal 115gr fmj. New blue sr9c failed to fire 3 rounds out of 100 of a box of winchester 115gr fmj. Field stripped and cleaned both guns before using the first time. Called Ruger and they sent shipping labels. I also own a ruger P345, an lcp, an lcr, and a P94 and a 10/22. and in the past I have owned several security sixes and have never had a single problem with any of them. I'm extremely disappointed with my sr9c's and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND them to anyone. There are other internet blogs that talk about thes same problems that I've had and other problems such as the trigger sticking. I have to question whether Ruger is being honest or is holding back on revealing the truth about these pistols. You may not get the truth about these guns from gun magazines because Ruger is a major purchaser of advertising. These are serious issues with these guns and could be a matter of life and death if you're depending on one for protecting yourself and your family. I will send both pistols back to Ruger and I will post updates as they occur.

OK, I cleaned and lubed my SR9c again, including the striker. Hopefully I can shoot it at the range today and see how things work.

OK, I put about 75 rounds of Blazer and Federal Champion Gold through it at the range--accurate, only two misfeeds but a lot of double fires. I counted my shots from the 17 round mag one time and I only pulled the trigger 11 times. I believe it mostly happens with the 17 but it may have happened once with the 10. See picture below with the double taps all over the target--talk about some tight groupings.
I will be calling Ruger. Now I know what it must feel like to shoot an automatic pistol.

mndoggie,
Just a little clarification. As of my Jan21st post, I had already traded my blue SR9C in for a P95, and sold my stainless to a man who was in the process of obtaining a permit but was denied, and so I still have the stainless SR9C.
And you're right that I did say that I owned every Ruger pistol, but what I meant to say was that I currently own, or have owned every Ruger pistol with a hammer. And did you notice that Ruger has pulled the P90, and P94 from thier website.
And you're right, I did say the blued one shot great after I cleaned it, but as I stated in later post, I had lost all confidence in them, especially for CCW, plain and simple
Whether you believe me or not is up to you. I certainly do appreciate your staunch support for something you believe in. Do you work for Ruger(sic)?
And let me state here, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERY OTHER PRODUCT FROM RUGER, of except for the SR9C, based soley on my own experience.

No I don't work for Ruger. Do you work for Glock since you recommended them?
Did you send either of your SR9c's back to the factory?

mndoggie,
No, I don't work for Glock, but I do think they are the most reliable pistols on the market. I still own a model 19, and I have owned 4 other models. I do think they're very dangerous though.
I do think the safeties on all the Ruger pistols I own are outstanding, and one of the reasons I bought them.
No, I haven't sent my stainless SR9C back to Ruger, but maybe I should since it is free and thier customer service is great. Peace of mind for me knowing I'm not going to sell a defective gun to someone.
After I get it back from Ruger I'll probably trade it in on the LC9 I have on order.

This is the kind of thread that causes individuals who surf the net to decide that a particular model of firearm is plagued with problems. They then repeat that idea everywhere they go.
I would suggest to danjman that he stop posting about this subject until he has given Ruger a fair shot at making things right.
If those pistols still don't work after the factory goes over/replaces them, then he is justified declaring that Ruger has a lemon on it's hands.
As his opinion only counts for his experience, he is causing the unintended consequence of sounding spiteful due to his frustration.

You would make a good faith trade for a bad gun?

homefront,
These guns are plagued with problems! And I should have stated that I will trade the gun in AFTER I get the gun back from Ruger and I will correct that on my post.
But as for your suggestion that I stop posting, not gonna happen!
