| P85 Safety problem.
My old war horse has its first problem. Shot a hundred rounds or so through the gun on a beatiful day. Not problem one. Brought it home to field strip and clean. Upon reassemble, suddenly the safety will not work. With the safety on, can pull trigger and hammer falls. Not real safe. Also, when closing chamber, the trigger will not stay cocked and actually fires. Any help with this problem.??

I have no idea. Have you taken it back down and verified everything is intact? After that, I'd give Ruger a call if it still has a problem.

Thanks for the inputs. I had it upgraded years ago and received a free clip for my inconvience. I thought that was nice. Back to my current problem. I had already done the go back to basics routine several times. Took it apart and reassembled multiple times. Still nothing. Needless, I was upset. Then for what ever reason I pulled back on the trigger to see what I could see. Nothing really. No broken springs that I could see. Pulled back on the hammer to see what I could see. Nothing really. Nothing abnormal. Went and reassembled again and guess what . Worked fine. Safety worked like always. With safety on , the hammer would no longer work. Great. When cocked, the hammer would stay back until the trigger pulled. Dont know what I did but what ever it was the gun was not happy with me. Waiting till it warms up and live fire to make sure all is well. Again, thanks for the inputs. I love gremlins.

Great news. P85 alive and well. ran through 135 rounds. No problems with the gun. Safety worked like a champ. Only had one misfire. Rechambered and fired. checked case. diffently two hits on the primer. Otherwise a great day with no problems. I just wish all problems were so easy to fix. Now, hitting the bulls eye 135 times. Another problem above the control of the gun. /The old problem. Operator error.
