My new SR9!

Been wanting a big sister to my SR9c but my favorite lgs were out of stock for months. Other places had them but wanted $470 on average. Went to my lgs couple of weeks ago & seen them for $388. Went back Monday before last & picked it up. They had a sale on them last week for $360. I know I jumped the "gun" a little too fast but didn't want to take a chance on them selling out! So far I've put 240rds through it & had one light primer strike (probably the Mag Tech ammo cause I refired it with no problem). My backstrap pin fell out towards the end on the range session but ordered another ($2 for pin, $6 to ship!) from Ruger.com, it'll be here today. Gonna red loctite that sucker when I get it! Already ordered & installed a Galloway stainless steel guide rod assembly with 20lb spring.

I put the 20# Galloway in my sr40c .... really love how it shoots with it. A little stiffer to rack still, but manageable.

The SR9c is what I carry the most & has the least wear on the slide. It has a polished slide unlike the SR9. I have other pistols that I've had cerakoted that have wear from my holsters but my SR9c has just been a gem!

The more you shoot them the more you'll love them. At least that's the way I feel about my SR9, SR9c and SR45.

Very nice. What improvements do you feel come with the Galloway spring assemblies?

Just have a habit of changing out plastic guide rods. I'm sure they work just fine but like the looks of the stainless steel. Plus you can change your spring rate, Galloway recommends 20lb spring for this pistol.

What improvements do you think that the heavier spring makes? If I'm not mistaken, the stock rate is 18 pounds. Does he have your spring help the pistol run any smoother, or help mitigate felt recoil? (not that recoil is a concern with this pistol, it feels almost like an air gun when compared to my SR 1911.)

Don't know yet, haven't tried it. I went with an 18lb spring on my SR9c & haven't noticed a "performance" difference. The slide is a bit harder to rack on the new 20lb spring on my new SR9 but nothing that impedes it. Basically didn't get the stainless steel recoil rods for a performance stand point as I did for a durability stand point. Also I like the aesthetics of the shiny end! I could have gotten them in black but liked the polished steel look better. Curious myself as to how or if a slightly stronger recoil spring will affect it? It was recommended by Galloway on their website to use the 20lb spring so I'll see...
