The only known issue that I know of is the front sight blade touching the slide and breaking off as the slide heats up. The fix is a small tolerance between the blade and slide.

None other that I know of. I have one and it has been excellent; reliable, accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. Of course, I like seeing the big holes in the paper

I have a 2014 SR1911CMD that has been flawless. I did swap out the sights for Tru-glo TFO almost as soon as I bought it, so I cannot speak to the front sight issue mentioned by another user.

I have had mine since it was new in 2014. It shoots where I point it, and I have NEVER had a single FTF, FTE, or malfunction of any other sort during that time. The SR1911 is a fantastic firearm. As long as the one you are purchasing has not been abused, (and maybe even if it has!) I cannot see you having any trouble with it at all.

Buying a used ruger is a pretty safe bet, much like a craftsman hand tool. If the price is good, go for it, any issues will be fixed by ruger. My sr1911 is circa 2012, and has been excellent, that was about the time of the surface rust issues and flying off front sites. Good luck!

The biggest issue is they are very much fun to shoot, which can result in the owner running out of .45 acp ammo really quickly.

As someone else said, the biggest problem is keeping ammo in the mags.

22 magnum has the answer. The early ones had an issue with the front sight breaking off. Ruger is aware of the issue and will happily fix the problem and pay shipping both ways. Mine is a very early one also, I bought it used, I dont know if the original owner had the front sight replaced, but there is a bit of a gap under the sight body. Mine should be good to go, and other than the sight issue, they are excellent, reliable, and highly accurate pistols. Buy with confidence.

Get a new recoil spring. Just a couple dollars. No telling how many rounds thru the 1911 and the spring does get weak. Maybe won't need it, but a spare is good to have on hand.

and make them deduct $25-50 from the price if it has an "Idiot mark" from inserting the slide stop carelessly
