I just purchased my 2nd sp101 this week. My first is .357, but this time I ran across one in 9mm. Ive done some research on the 9mm sp101 but cant seem to find much information on it. I did find out Ruger only made it a short time. A 9mm revolver with only 5 shots isnt my idea of a CCW, but I thought it was a unique piece to add to the collection. Im anxious to take it for a spin this weekend. Anyone else have a sp101 9mm? Just curious how many there are out there.

Nice purchase , I had one in the mid 90's I let it go cheap(along with my first .22) not knowing any better. I would love to have another because I have a lot of 9mm ammo.
IMO they are more rare than the full lug 4" .22's but slightly less rare than the 1/2 lug 4" or the 2.25" .22's. Get some moon clips for it (if you did not get them with the gun) and have fun.

I have one. It is my favorite SP101 and the one I carry most. I spent about 8 months searching before I found mine. I have never seen another one except on the boards. Congratulations!

I HAD two 9mm Ruger SP101s & they were great range guns & being 9mm para is cheaper to shoot than 38spl they really got alot of use..
I had both a 2 1/4" & a 3 1/16" & also had a DAO hammer for the 2 1/4" were I could convert it back & forth from DA/SA to DAO..
I have around 40+ TK moon clips from them that work also in my 940 9mm S&W Snubbie..
Here's a pic I found of the 2 1/4" along with a 38spl SPNY both with Hogue Grips..
Here's a pic I found of all three of my SP101s |

Just curious how many there are out there. | I don't have a SP101 in 9mm, but I'd love to! My wife has the more usual SP101 in .357 Magnum, and she shoots it scary well; better than I do because I spend most of my .357 time with my KGP141.
But I also have 9mm pistols - and have hand-loaded for them extensively. Modern propellants and bullets have elevated the 9mm above its former "wimp" status and I now consider it an entirely adequate SD round.
The thing is, most 9mm pistols I've known don't handle 147 grain bullets as well as 115 and 124 gr. My hunch is that isn't going to bother the SP101 one bit.
I'm curious if Ruger took advantage of the shorter 9mm cartridge to shorten the cylinder and make the 101 even more compact?
If so, I think a SP101 in 9mm could be one, very cool gun.
Congratulations.

I found a SP101 in 9mm w/2.25" bbl about 6 years ago. If it has been fired it wasn't much. I have everything that came with it including the shipping sleeve. It's been put away for safe keepings ever since. Funny all the interest in them after Ruger discontinued them.

I hope I dont regret this, but ive decided to let the 9mm go. You can find info on it in the classified section. Ive come across a pistol I want more. Tempting to keep it for the long haul to see if it increases in value, but a friend let me shoot his S&W 627 8 shot revolver and Ive got the fever. I have to sell one, might as well be one ive not gotten to attached to.
