Just fired my new LCP. Completely disappointed in the length of the trigger pull, and the amount of effort required to finally fire it. Is this a common problem with this otherwise fine pistol?

It takes a little getting used to but is quite accurate. You can appreciate that long trigger pull when carrying in a pocket

No problem, it's normal. I think it's just more safety for the gun... The trigger pull is long enough for the bad guy to run 3 miles away before the trigger breaks.

i got the LCR after shooting the LCP, and the #1 reason was the awesome trigger on the LCR and the terrible one on the LCP.
my main issue was that the tip of my index finger would hit my thumb before the trigger broke.
it is safer, but i would rather trade by making the pull a pound or two heavier, but a half inch or do shorter on the back end (meaning the trigger would break without having to pull it all the way back)
that being said, i think i still may get one due to the small size... and it was far, far more accurate than i would have expected.

Sure hope there's a way to shorten the length of pull required for the trigger to break. This is an otherwise ideal weapon for concealment. I'm a new kid on this block, so don't know if I'm doing this right, but would really like some information on ways around this real problem.

It might just be old-wives-tales or some kind of paranoia, but I figure a stock trigger is one less thing to get brought up if I'm ever forced to defend my defending myself with a firearm.
I 'solved' the problem by purchasing a different gun. Other similar guns with a decent reputation are the KelTec P3AT, Diamondback DB380, and my choice the Kahr P380 which I do recommend, but only with a caution that I can elaborate on if you're interested.
Others out there worth looking at may be the Micro Desert Eagle, and S&W BodyGuard 380. Taurus is now making a .380 pocket pistol too, but I don't know about any of these.
I think that all of these are .380 DAO pocket pistols, and I'm sure I missed some. Others I'm sure can chime in if you decide to consider something different. Sorry about your trigger problems. I got my LCP when they first came out and it's hard purchasing a gun w/out shooting it. I DO love my Kahr though.

I offer this in case you don't know... there's a forum dedicated to LCP and they have a search function... Like if you register there and type "trigger pull" in the search box, a bunch of strings discussing it come up. Trigger Press Technique http://elsiepeaforum.com/forum/index.php |

I shot the LCP and the Keltec p3at side by side and the LCP trigger pull was definitely better IMHO? Keltec felt gritty or something, not as smooth?
To each his own?

I had the LC9 before the LCP (technically my wife's gun), and once I got used to the LC9's pull, the LCP's was nothing. I have no intention of doing anything to the pull of either, in fact I've come pretty comfortable with it.

My LCP works great and I'm not doing one thing to it but use it! Hopefully not on a BG but I feel it will fire first time and every time there after. I bet my life on it.....

While it would be nice if the LCP and LC9 had a trigger like the LCRs do, I'm not about to change anything on my CCW. Lawyers can twist anything around to make YOU into the bad guy. Since I pocket carry, I don't worry about it going BANG! until I want it to.

PS almost three times the money? For a .380, I think I'll stick with what I've got and like.
