What is the mainspring housing made of that comes on the SR1911?

AMDnutt is on a distinguished road
Carbon steel... kinda cheap IMHO. Mine started to rust where it touched my skin from sweat. I replaced mine with an Ed Brown stainless.

Checkered steel. I suggested on another forum replacing the one on my CMD-LW with a Colt Nylon/composite one and cutting another ounce off the pistol. That got some reaction.
