Newly Minted Ruger Owner Today. Question Re: LCP2

This is a discussion on Newly Minted Ruger Owner Today. Question Re: LCP2 within the Ruger Pistols forums, part of the Pistol & Revolver Forum category; Mine does the same thing. But if I extract the round by racking it it goes out the ejection port. Weird...

@gqcool. I thought it did but then I realized that things still don't make sense.

If I put a round in the chamber and yank the slide back (with no mag inserted the round ejects 'properly' via the ejection port.

But if I FIRE a round with no mag inserted it falls down the magwell.

Bottomline: I am extremely happy with the gun, but am simply curious about this oddity in function.

What you are describing is normal. The magazine has to be inserted for the casing to be ejected through the ejection port.

What you are experiencing is normal.

Although loading as described is hard on the extractor as it's not designed to operate as such.
