Question Help on My New Ruger American 45ACP

I just bought a New Ruger American chambered in 45 ACP and low and behold it shoots left bad as some on you tube have said. Plus while using Full Metal Jacket Sig Ammo (Not Cheap) it jams every 3 to 4 shots. Changed ammo cleaned and retried same result. Used different magazine and same result. I have heard nothing but good about these and love the feel but ouch its killin me. Send it into Ruger or anyone heard of a quick fix? Love Gun just don't like problems.

Try more than one brand of ammo . If it does it with them also, it's the gun.
And don't try any reloaded ammo. It needs to prove itself with factory first.

Yes Sir I do however no wind. Fired two other similar guns a H&K and S&W MP both were dead on and three different shooters at range had same feel for shooting left out of New Ruger American.

OK, education time.

Adjusting for windage is not adjusting for wind.

It means adjusting the sights left or right to correct for a gun that shoots left or right.

If it's shooting consistently left, you move the rear sight to the right till your bullet impacts are shooting straight ahead.

????
I have one and it has shot everything that I've fed it. It absolutely loves my 225 grn cast.
As far as shooting left, mine shot a couple inches left @ 25 yds and I made a small rear sight adjustment. Shoots great now

Sounds like a newbie to using semi-autos. Did not know how to drift rear sight to adjust point of impact. Also stated his problem seems to be failure to feed. I wonder if he is limp wrist shooter causing the problem.

I'd suspect an improper hold.

CNG, was it also malfunctioning for the other shooters?

Yep. Your proper grip and hold are part of the functioning of the gun. Pay really good attention to that and see if that doesnt help.

Sounds like limp writing and needs trigger practice. Also needs to use FMJ to break in gun.

The OP did say that two others fired the gun and had the "shoots left" issue, so that likely means the sights are off. While the RAP is adjustable, that shouldn't really be getting out of the factory off in that regard.

As far as the malfunctions, I do agree that we need some more information there. Did the other shooters have the same malfunction issues? How did the gun perform shooting FMJ?

My American 45 also shot to the left. My gunsmith looked at it and found the front sight way off center. He couldn't budge it so I sent it back to Ruger. They corrected the problem and sent a test target that was right on the money. Good customer service.

Also, have you tried switching grips? I shot left with my RAP compact until I switched to the large grips. The grip design pushes you into a high hold, which in my case allowed too much finger on the trigger
