I was and wondering if anyone has tried the XS Sight for the Ruger SR9C? I was looking into getting a set of sights and didn`t know which were better, Tritium Night Sights, Meprolight Sights or the XS Big Dot set. Any info would be great:confused:

I have a set of XS BIG DOT sights on a Glock 23. I don't shoot the G23 much, but the big dot sight is easier for my aging eyes to pick up when I'm not wearing glasses. I'm thinking of putting a set on a XD 9MM subcompact I recently bought. I hadn't thought about putting them on my just acquired SR9c. Something to think about!

XS Big Dot sights installed on SR9c

Hello All
Just had XS Big Dot sights installed by XS on my SR9c. Very fast turn around! Less than a week. I sent the slide in not trusting myself to install them correctly. The sights are a big help in quick target acquisition, range work gave me a tight group (less than 3 ") at 50 yards. If you are interested in competition shooting these are not the sights for you, but for CCW and any night work they are great. So far no issues to report, have placed a little over 200 rounds thru the gun with these sights and both front and rear sights are tight. Cost factor was $120.00 for the sights plus $40.00 for installation plus shipping.

You shot a sub 3" "group" with XS big dot sights, on an SR9c, at 50 YARDS? Come on now. Maybe you should enter professional competition. Just think what you could do with "competition sights". ;)

I didn't see the SR9c listed on their site.
Is this a new addition or am I lost?

I've got a Viridian Laser on my full size but didn't want to add that to the "c". Considering my options.
thanks

Which six months are you referring to? this thread is over two years old!;)

I have had XS Big Dots on my SR9c for about that long, and like the quick target acquisition, in self-defense situations.

Good luck

Interesting... this is the 5th thread I've found on RugerForum talking about XS big dot sights on an SR9C, people keep asking but still no pics to be found?

I've had xs big dot for about a year now. The first time to the range I shot 100 rnds of double and triple hits on a full sized silhouette at 25'. No misses, all 100 shots were combat effective shots. This was remarkable for me because doubles and triples are something I hadn't done well.

Bullseye? BS. This is a lousy sight for bullseye shooting. You cannot see the bulls eye for the big dot. When shooting bulls eye it seems the gun shoots low. I spoke with the fine people at XS to see if the had a little dot that would fit my SR9c. They did, but he told it would still shoot low when shooting Bulls.

The reason? The line of sight on that system is the bottom of the V on the back sight and the bottom of the ring on the Big or Little dot, the bottom of the ring is in the same place no matter which dot you use!

I have learned how to shoot around the big dot for plinking. It's OK, I should be completely familiar with my gun anyway. But a 3 dot or heine, something you can see over is best for Bulls.

I was just to the range Saturday with my new SR9c. At the indoor range a garage door is opened at the end of a long building. Just outside is the dirt pile. Traveling targets stay inside. While shooting I could not pick up the rear sight dots while looking out into the day light. So at home I tried iluminating the rear of the gun with a small flashlight while aiming thru a window. The FL lit the dots up. So off to WM to buy a hat bill light. It has white, red and UV led's. The red did the best job of lighting up the dots. I have another HG with WM florescent green fingernail paint on the rear iron site. The UV led's lit these dots up big time. Need to try this in the daylight.
I be off to the range tomorrow or Thursday to do some testing. I also have another gun with fiber sights. Got to see what works best for me.
Not going to do anything to the SR9c yet.
Very happy with the SR9c.

Here are a few phone camera shots of my SR9c with XS Big Dot sights. This is my daily carry. It is my Goldilocks gun. Not too small, not too big, and it rides nice with my seat belt on. People don't dress up much these days so a loose cover shirt or a XXL T shirt covers pretty well. I installed the sights myself. This requires some metal working skills as the sights from Ruger need to be fitted to the dovetails. This requires a 2" belt sander to mill the pedestal of the sights, and frequent dimension checks, because too much milling creates another problem.

If you look down the first picture, the big dot doesn't seem all that big. Until you imagine a Bulls eye down range. A 1" bull at 25' is a lot smaller than the BIG DOT Sight. They are not very good at bullseye shooting. They are awesome at double and triple taps. The first day I shot 100 rounds of doubles and triples on a full sized silhouette and all were combat effective shots.

The guys at XS tell me the line of sight on these is the bottom of the V and the bottom of the white ring on the big dot. If you change to a little dot, the line of sight is still the same. I have learned to kind of look around the dot for plinking. The truth is, if I ever need it for defensive work I won't be plinking.

I became interested in Duracoat last year. I wondered if you could do anything to dress up the black plastic guns. My best friend is retired Police, so I set him up with an SR40c. I did his in carbon black and put his name on the left side and gold Badge decal mounted on the rail. In addition to that I did a trigger improvement. (graphite and stoned the trigger tab.) He loved it and shoots remarkably well with it. There are always lots of Glock guys at police qualifiers. They laughed at the short barrel. 2 magazines later all shots in the 9 ring or better right and left handed, all the laughter stopped. You gotta love a gun that shoots where you're looking.
