I am a proud new owner of a Ruger American Pistol 45 ACP. Read some of the reviews online and got one because of the Ruger name! Got a free range pass from the local gun store i bought it from and cant wait to fire it. Everybody else that has one do you like it and are there any know problems? Thanks and have a good day.

Congrats on the purchase! I'm not sure if this is an issue with just the RAP compacts in 45 ACP, but people have been reporting the recoil spring slipping off the guide rod. Have you stripped it down and checked out the recoil spring to see if it's actually captured?

I've had one since early on and had no issues with it. Take your time and make sure you use the grip that works best for you. I ended up putting some Talon grips on mine.

I have the RAP 9 Compact and Love it. I am sure you will Love the 45. I want one in the 45 but it does not come with the small handgrips so I believe I will have to pass. Let us know how she shoots for you. My smaller hands really need the small hand grips. My SR45 does me well though.

Congrats!!!
I myself just picked up a 45acp last weekend and I've run a couple hundred rounds through it.
I cast and load and I've been working on some different loads.
I absolutely love mine, I couldn't be happier.

I have a question. I have a 9mm duty version. Love it! however I got to shoot my son in laws glock g21and was shocked at how mild the recoil was. I alway have shied away from the big iron just because of that. it is roughly on a par with my RAP. So, here is my question: It is my though that since the RAP is one of the lowest recoil impulse pistols I have shot, is the RAP45 a real soft shooter? I just may want to get me one.
