I suspect any gun manufacturer can have issues with a new design, not just Ruger. I have three other Ruger arms. One runs flawlessly and has since day one. The two .22s have been somewhat picky about ammo. My brand new LCP II worked perfectly yesterday.

Mine did the same thing when releasing the slide back after it had been locked back with an empty mag. It did not happen until a few months after I got it. After putting a couple thousand rounds through it I got tired of the magazine constantly releasing while I was firing. This may very well have been due to me and not the gun. Either way it was time to get rid of the thing, so I traded it in for some credit toward a Glock 42

New LCP ll? Forget it! Get the Gen 2.

Having owned 4 lcp's. It is my opinion the LCP ll sucks compared to the Gen 2. Gun has a horrible trigger with some about 1/2" of weird free play. Feels like it has a broken spring. After having shot thousands of rounds out of LCP's, the new one felt loose not as solid as the Gen 2. Trigger on the new gun would cause finger slap. This gun is suited more for the slow "Target Shooter" that wants to take his time aiming at target, getting into perfect weaver stance and on and on. Not for fast action point and shoot style.

Well, Ruger shipped out my gun today. Hopefully it will be right this time. I'll post back after I get it back.

Got the gun back. Hopefully can shoot it this weekend. The packing slip said they replaced barrel and slide lock, and fired three types of ammo - 36 rounds each with no malfunctions.

Im not feeling overly confident. Manually cycling ammo resulted in few jams. After ejecting the last round the slide does'nt always lock back. And something on the slide is still lightly hitting the magazine follower of an empty mag.

I have teo other guns Rugers and two Glocks. Never issues like these.

Ill post back after I get out and shoot it.

Got a chance to shoot the gun today. 74 rounds - mix between hollow points and round nose. Flawless! Not one single problem.

I think the issues with manually cycling the other day were due to not cycling with enough force. Compared to my larger guns I think the smaller ones are a little more difficult to manually cycle correctly due to the size.

I'm really happy that it seems Ruger solved the issues - even though it took two trips back to them to get it right. The gun is very comfortable to shoot and I was surprisingly accurate with this small gun.

If any other issues pop up I'll post back. I hope I don't have any more issues and I hope that those of you having problems get them resolved.

Great! Now you can get to just enjoying this little pistol. I really like mine, but I know that it is not meant to be a high volume range gun. I've shot it enough to know that mine is reliable. My plan is to fire a magazine thru it once every month or so just to make sure that everything is fine with it. For a point and shoot belly gun, I see little value to putting a ton of rounds thru it.
