I have put 300 rounds through mine and it has not missed a beat. I shot Winchester white box 9mm luger 115gr. FMJ and 9mm nato 124gr. FMJ. I also shot a few corbon Hollow points. All shot great and accurate. I am very happy with the purchase.

When I first purchased the gun, I took it home, field stripped it, gave it a general cleaning, then went and shot 100 rounds. I had 2 light fires out of the 100. Came home and surfed the net trying to find out what I could about the light fire. Too many people are quick to attribute it to the ammo. However, there is a buzz online about the grease in the firing pin area. I took the gun apart (down to the pins and screws, and gave it a really good cleaning and applied a light coat of oil all over. Went to the range yesterday and fired 150 round with no issues. Really sweet!
On another note. We had a gun show in the area and I picked up a box of Hornady 147 gr XTP with the intent of practicing with my carry ammo. I had 7 0f 20 rounds not fire. I put those rounds in another gun, and same problem - no fire. I then purchased (at the range store) a box of Speer Gold Dot Ammunition +P 124 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point and all fired without any issues. I've changed my carry ammo to the Gold Dot! I wonder if the folks at the gun show are selling ammo that did not pass quality control at the Hornady factory. Is that even possible?

Mine abdolutely will not shoot Hornady Critical Defense. At all. Less than 1% failure rate with everything else I have tried.

I have about 400 rounds through mine now without a single problem. Ammo run through the gun includes Spear Gold Dots, Hornady Critical Defense, and a couple flavors of my own ammo using flat point and round point bullets. So far it has been just like my P89 and shot everything I have put through it.

Not good enough, my friend. All the big boys say less than 0.5%, or 200 carry rounds without a problem. I know, I'm still working on my gun also, trying to get it better and more reliable.
Addendum: Just got my gun back from Service; they replaced the striker assembly (longer striker spring). The last 300 rounds with WWB and Federal have been trouble-free. Good for the Service guys.

Just got the SR9c back from Ruger. Had about 300 rounds through it with about 30 FTF light strikes. I'd used various ammo from various manufacturers. Ruger replaced the striker and striker spring and test fired 40 rounds through it.
I haven't had a chance to take it to the range to try it out yet but hope to next week.
I overnighted it to Ruger on Monday of last week and got it back on Tuesday of this week. My guess is that they straightened it out (and their Customer Service is still the best.)

OK, I was excited when I got mine , but after shooting it I was horrified at the failure rate. I had 3 FTFires AND one stove pipe jam in the first 2 magazines full! (27 rounds) This was with REM UMC 115gr.
Then tried Federal FMJ 115gr...had 1 FTfire in one mag.(17rds) Then REM JHP 115gr... had 2 lite strikes with failure of the trigger to reset in 50 rounds.
This is VERY unacceptable obviously. So the SR9c is taking a trip to Ruger soon.

When I got mine,I was sick After the first 30 rounds of factory ammo ! I have never had a gun I had to send back to the factory for repair, UNTIL the sr9c. Had to send back a BRAND NEW SR9C because of trigger reset failures. CS was Great and I had it back in less than 2 weeks. They replaced the striker assembly and the trigger reset bar. Went outside and Put in my loaded magazine in the gun that was just returned to me and in less than 4 rounds another trigger reset problem , then a FTF and then a FTE. Brought it inside and field strip. The striker assy was FULL of grease. Removed and cleaned the crap off the striker assy and slide housing. Lightly lubed everything up with break free, Polished up trigger contact points and reassemble. Loaded up some 124 gr XTP's. Went shooting ,Trigger is now MUCH better (not gritty at all) but Another FTE, noticed scratches on cases . Field strip , removed barrel and then polished the chamber. It will now shoot anything I have put in to it. I now even have my slide stop where I can use it as a slide release! My barrel is now starting to peen some but I can live with that for a while because I have it working just like I want too. Its been alot of work but I'm finally happy with my SR9C. |

I have fired more than 200 rounds through mine without a hiccup. Most has been 115 grain FMJ and even 115 HP. Even with factory grease on the striker, it was flawless. Of course, I took all that apart and cleaned and lubed the rest. Have not fired any +P yet, but haven't felt the need.

Well, it sounds like the Ruger CS was good,,, BUT it sure sounds like the REPAIR DEPT is lacking! I mean if they claim to have "fixed" the SR9c and then you had those problems AGAIN in 4 rounds,,, WOW.
What ever happened to the days when a consumer could buy a new product and ACTUALLY expect it to function without repairs or (like you did) having to fix it yourself?
The delema I face is that even after I send mine back for "repairs", I will still never be able to trust this gun fully for the purpose of self-defense. With all the failures I had "out-of-box", how could I trust my life with it?
{It's a shame cause I already bought an expensive crossbreead holster for it too} |

I'm shoot close to 1000 rounds thru mine. The first 100-200 rounds was rough, major light strike issues with WWB ammo. At 650 rounds I noticed I cracked the trigger, ruger fixed that is about 8 days. I've put 800 rounds thru it with no light strike issues. I've done rapid fire, practiced speed loads, no issues at all. I trust it with my life. Good life insurance policy with a ruger sr9c...

CenterTree, I cannot begin to tell you how frustrated I was with my sr9c. I literally wanted to lay it in the driveway and run over it repeatedly with my truck! I tried to trade it for a xd sub compact and I would have lost my butt. I also hated to trade it because I know someone else would have had my problems with it and I wouldn't want that to happen to me.(Guilty Consuience). I'm pretty handy at fixing things and sometimes like the old saying goes "If you want it done right you have to do it yourself !" I hate to have to return something for repair, especially a gun. I feel that if something is defective when new that it should be replaced and not repaired. It kinda bothers me that the barrel is starting to peen but I cant stand the thoughts of sending it back again, I don't know if it will function the same when I get it back and I've seen reports of people having to send them back repeatedly for barrel peening. I may have try to figure that one out myself also. Like I said in the previous post, I'm happy with the way it functions for now BUT I will NEVER buy another Ruger pistol.
