American Eagle full metal jacket. About 1500 rounds, never a malfunction. Works great

I also hated to trade it because I know someone else would have had my problems with it and I wouldn't want that to happen to me.(Guilty Consuience). I'm pretty handy at fixing things and sometimes like the old saying goes "If you want it done right you have to do it yourself !" I hate to have to return something for repair, especially a gun. I feel that if something is defective when new that it should be replaced and not repaired. It kinda bothers me that the barrel is starting to peen but I cant stand the thoughts of sending it back again, I don't know if it will function the same when I get it back and I've seen reports of people having to send them back repeatedly for barrel peening. I may have try to figure that one out myself also. Like I said in the previous post, I'm happy with the way it functions for now BUT I will NEVER buy another Ruger pistol.

250 rounds

No FTF/FTE or any issues at all. Used some bulk ammo(summit or something like from store I bought it from?) 115GR jhp and gun was super accurate. Was low and right about 3". Quick adjustments and bullseyes all day long. Great shooter. Nice complement to my sr1911 .45 and the ruger mkiii hunter .22 6 7/8' ss...

Oh, and I did field strip it and remove the striker and degrease the striker channel(there was factory grease in there)and then re-oiled it according toe rugers website and other youtube vids I saw. Only issues I have is the small pin right above mag release buttons was slightly protruding out of one side. Tapped it in and hasn't moved in first 250 rounds. if it does, will just dab a little blue loctite if needed.

A tale of two guns - Me and my son both purchased Ruger SR9c pistols (same day). His has functioned flawlessly, but mine has had problems with failure to fire. We shoot at the range together and share the same ammo. I have cleaned the striker and striker channel along with the rest of the gun and still have issues with failure to fire. I just mailed it back to Ruger for it's third visit. The pistol is not as bad as it was when I first purchased it back in Jan. 2012. I was having an average of 7 failure to fire issues out of each box of ammo (50), now its down to about 2 failures to fire out of every 40 rounds. I hope they get it fixed this time. I've even tried different ammo brands, some do a little worse, some premium shells do a little better.

OK, I don't want to and am not implying anything at all, but...can you and your son swap guns next time at the range? If the problem follows the gun, it's probably something with the gun...if it works for your son and you have problems with his gun, the problem may be with you (the proverbial limp-wristing or perhaps your weak hand thumb is slightly riding on the slide during operation. Just some food for thought.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we had already tried that and still had the failures to fire with my gun and I shot his fine. I received a call Wednesday evening from Ruger that they had received the pistol and had given it to a technician. Then received another call from Ruger yesterday afternoon that they would be replacing my pistol and asked which FFL I wanted to use for the transfer.

Perfect!! Glad you got it figured out and hopefully the new 9c will be flawless like mine. You will really get to likin' that gun!

Reliability on my SR9c has been 100%. I've never had a jam or misfire of any sort.

I've probably fired 500-600 rnds through it.

Mainly I use S&B 115fmj, but I've tried several brands, 115, 124 and 147g through it, including multiple brands of hollow points.

I've owned around 15 different semi auto hand guns and have had no problems with any that I haven't caused. I shoot a lot and maybe I'm just lucky or maybe it's the way I shoot or how I maintain them. Who knows. Do you guys all tap a new magazine to make sure all the rounds are toward the back before you fire? When I first started shooting a semi auto I had some jamming problems. A guy at the range showed me that trick and it's been great ever since.

Before I bought my SR9c I read that there were some FTF, & ect. Most attributed the failure to "limp wristing" the pistol. When I finally took mine to the range I tried to limp wrist it myself and could not get a failure.

For a full disclosure, after I bought it, I cleaned the gun very well and left the slide locked back and the mags loaded for a few weeks until I got some time to play. I have had no issues.

4200 rounds and two lite strikes (both within 200 rounds and RWS ammo). Like this gun a lot. Buy one and you will not regret it.

I just purchased my SR9C a few days ago and had two light strikes in the first 250 rounds with UMC ammo. I fired another 300 rounds of some factory reloads from my local range with 0 issues. Love this gun!
