P97 DAO Questions

Long story short I had a chance to buy a Taurus pt100 for $200 but the sale fell through. So I went to a LGS and came across a P97DOA for $320. It's only the pistol and a mag. It looks in pretty good shape with just a little bit of wear. I have it on hold till Monday while I decide if I want to jump on it. I've read a ton of reviews on them and how reliable they are. But I'm still wondering if $325 a good deal on a pistol this old. How accessible are parts for them? I read a few issues about magazines with them. Guess I'm just looking for justification to buy it

Ruger doesn't support the P series guns. Its a shame. They shoot great. I would buy.

Oops haha yea meant DAO not DOA. I think I'm going to go for it. I figure or $325 there's not many reliable options for a .45

P97 DOA Questions

I'd grab it.... I have a P97DC (with decocker; SA/DA). Great accurate pistol.

I'd go for it. $325 is a fair price

Pseries can still be sent to ruger for repairs!!!!

Ruger still has parts for and will work on P series pistols....I sent them my P944DAO in December 2016 and they replaced worn springs and test fired and cleaned my 21 year old pistol for FREE.

You can find factory Ruger P97 mags at...

Ruger.com P90™ & P97™ 8-Round Magazine-ShopRuger

Midway USA Ruger Mag Ruger P90 P97 45 ACP 8-Round SS

...& there are a few for sale on ebay right now. I would avoid Promag brand at all cost, though.

Numrich has a limited supply of P97 parts, but is worth checking out. https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufac...7DAO-35143.htm

That's awesome! Thank you everyone fore your input. So I did get it, sort of. I ended up having to put it on layaway. Damn truck threw a carb this weekend so the funds for it went to that so I'll have to wait an extra to pick it.

So I finally had a chance to put some rounds through it Monday. It felt really good and shot well till I had a jam after about 60 rounds. I was able to shoot after that and it cycled those 8 but I couldn't shoot any more due to the range closing. Is this anything I should worry about? Gun was cleaned before. I was shooting federal aluminum and brass. The aluminum is what it jammed with.

Can't speak for that particular firearm but I have had minor issues ejecting fed alum ammo. I don't buy it often. I've chalked it up to the ammo not gun

That's what I'm leaning towards as well. My Canik TP9V2 had a FTF with the aluminum as well

There's also a YouTube video of a guy cutting an extra slot in 1911 mags so they'll work in the P90 & P97. If you're feeling adventurous.
