shot mine a few times, at least 250-300 rounds thru it
zero malfunctions, works perfectly
I like it a lot
very comparable to my Springfield XDm in 45acp
I would say the trigger on the American is a little crisper than the XDm, and a slight shorter reset
for the money its a great pistol

I have the new American 9mm with the manual safety and love it! Getting better sights for it soon and would love to see the American line spin off a 22lr version, my SR22p just feels like a toy. My brother has the M&P 22 and it's a full size 22 gun and feels good but shoots like a turd, too many hangs and FTE's. My SR22p will cycle any ammo I run through it.

Picked up my RAP 45c yesterday. Got out and shot 100 rds through it. Shoots great and accurate for me. Went to clean it and when i was removing the guide rod, the top spring came off the end of the guide rod. I tried to get the spring back on, but no luck. Called Ruger and they are sending a new guide rod out.
That has never happened to me before, but Ruger CS is top notch.

Coho857. I had the exact same problem with mine yesterday! Bought it yesterday, field striped it for the first cleaning and what do you know....the recoil spring came off of the guide rod. It's the larger spring that goes into the slide. Disappointing at best.

To add about the RAPc 45, got my RAPc 45 back from Ruger with new guide rod. So far so good, it shoots great for me, and i love the trigger.
It's a damn fine shooting .45acp pistol.

Bought one in December. The first time I shot it, with Winchester Train and Defend, it worked flawlessly. Took it out yesterday and tried Perfecta 230 grain brass through it and had four failures to feed. Only has 110 rounds through it. I guess it doesn't like cheap ammunition. Going to try again next weekend with the Winchester ammunition. Hope it solves the problem. Good shooting gun at a reasonable price. Picked it at at a gun show, got it for $440.00 out the door. I'm a southpaw, like the ambidextrous controls.

Welcome to the crowd from a fellow washingtonian. Did you clean it between uses? just asking because I now have over a thousand rounds through my 9mm. It digests anything I put in itches or not so cheap, but, I am retired and have nothing better to do than clean it every time I use it.

How in the world did you get one in December when it was announced Dec. 28? I still haven't seen one in a gun store.

Received the new guide rod/spring assembly from Ruger last week and it's been running fine so far.

Anyone know why they don't offer the RAP .45c with a safety? I had a chance to handle one at a gun show last week and really liked it. The problem is, my son will shoot it part of the time and he prefers and is used to a manual, external safety. It's also not for EDC, replacing my SR45. which I like, but it is just to big to carry when hunting/on motorcycles etc. whereI would like to bring a .45. My EDC is a Shield 9mm we tritium sights btw.

I just picked up a RAP Compact 45 today. Found a great deal on a very slightly used one Went to the range today with my son and we ran 150 rounds through it with no issues other than running out of ammo! I'd forgotten how the little 45s bark but readjusted my grip and quickly got rounds going where they should. My 17year old son enjoyed it too and it's the first 45ACP he has shot. He put a few in the dirt but cleared his head and took some instructions from me and very quickly got center mass and head shots. I have a RAP full size in 9mm too that he shoots well. I too had the same issue with the large spring coming off the front of the guide rod but I figured it out after a good cleaning. Very happy with the RAPs!!!

Well I finally broke down and ordered one last night. It should be in by the middle of next week. Local gun shop still hasn't received any from distributor.
