JHP rounds for LCP II

I recently picked up an LCP II after owning an LC9 for about 3 years.

I use Hornady critical defense in my LC9 but was wanting suggestions for the LCP.

Thanks.

I also like the critical defense and critical duty. My input for carry ammo is this! If my weapon cycles 100 rounds of it flawlessly and the accurate I will use it. I gave the Hornady stuff a try because it was passed so many of the FBI tests. Not that I am an FBI fan per say but the do very extensive testing.

The number one rated 380 that passed all the FBI test with flying colors and then some is the Precision One brand 380 ACP 90gr HP/XTP and as noted in the name it uses the same Hornady XTP bullet that Hornady makes/uses in their ammo Critical Duty, only it performs a hair better in testing. Either one would serve you well.

Do you have a link to these FBI results for this ammo? I've never heard of it before.

Also, as an FYI, Hornady does NOT use the XTP bullets in their Critical Duty (or Critical Defense). Even if they did, they don't make a Critical Duty load in .380acp.

Saw a good review and Fiocchi Extrema did very well in tests. That uses the XTP bullet too I believe.
I've been running FMJ flat point Winchester target rounds through my custom LCP and never have had one failure. I just carry with that ammo. I figure the penetration of a FMJ in 380 is better.
I might try some of those Fiocchi rounds at some point.

Correct, but Hornady does use the XTP in the Custom and the American Gunner lines. AKA, no little plastic plug.

This guy, noted expert in the field, is talking about the FBI requirements, that's all he ever goes by.

These are the all brands by comparison for elimination.

Note almost all of those in the final winners circle us the Hornady XTP bullet.

This is a wrap up of the final winner.

I use the Hornady American Gunner which is the new name, new box for the Hornady XTP Custom only because they are easier to obtain/find locally and I don't have to pay any shipping charges. Good luck with your selection.

I carry a pocket .380 more than any other handgun. I have had good results (function and accuracy only, I've never shot anything bigger than an armadillo) with Critical Defense, DRT, and Gold Dot. In fact the only .380 ammo I've ever had issue with was Rem/ UMC fmj that had such soft brass cases that all the ejected brass looked like guppy's with one side of the case all distended.

For the original LCP, I use Hornady Z-Max 90-gr .380 ammo (same as the Critical Defense, ony with a green plug instead of a red plug in the FTX bullet).
