First range session with Night Guard Commander
I am a revolver man at heart, a Smith and Wesson vintage fan and collector. Bought this on a whim. Stripped, cleaned, tensioned up the grip safety a bit, cleaned and lubed with Rotella T synthetic. Everything looked good and functioned appropriately. The trigger was OK, not even close to the glass rod single action break of a vintage smith, but what is? It was more than acceptable for self defense where I prefer a stiffer trigger. One of the grip screws/bushing was odd. Very hard to turn the screw out and back in. Examined with magnifier and the threads all looked good so no idea. Not going to worry about it.
Bought 50 rounds of White Box and 50 rounds of UMC. Went through them without a hitch or hiccup. Was flawless, good accuracy and to point of aim at 5, 10, and 15 yards. Shot out 5 target centers. I was shooting a lot better than all the other shooters, most with full size Kimberly, Colts, and Baers. I had maybe shot 50 rounds through a 1911 in my life.
I didn't know what to expect based on the widely varying reviews. Let my wife shoot it and she was about a 1/2 inches off at 7 yards. Then went back to our Model 28 .357 and her Ruger LCR. She thought it felt wierd but obviously said it was much easier to handle than a J frame or LCR loaded hot. Lol.
So far I am very impressed and looking forward to more rounds down range.
