Guess not.

Seriously, while this new model doesn't have any earth-shaking changes, those adjustable target sights seem like a no-brainer. If the price ends up being right, I might be very tempted.

It kinda disappointed me.... nothing except adjustable sights. Didn't excite me so I am passing. Plus $1019 MSRP seems a little high, will have to see what they actually sell for.

I agree that the additional cost does not seem to be justified solely for an adjustable rear sight.

For my SR1911, I've been greatly helped by having a FO front sight professionally installed. The sight was $42 from ShopRuger, and the smith charged $35 for professional installation. He had to do a very slight amount of milling on the top of the slide. Hardly noticeable.

Anyway, the FO front sight really improved my sight picture. Benchresting at 15 yards shows the sights are properly aligned and the pistol is shooting straight. A well spent $77. My groupings are tighter.

Using the benchrest shows me how much more practice I need for freehand shooting.

Practice, practice, practice!

It's adjustable sighted, and ambi thumb safetied, and VZ looking gripped.

Judge if that's worth a bit more or not.

The street price is what counts, not the MSRP. Compare the MSRP of the other SR1911 models to what they are actually selling for and you'll see quite a difference. The only complaint I have about my SR1911 is that it doesn't have adjustable sights. I wish they had offered that option 3 years ago.
The other changes are less important to me.

Yeh if you want it don't judge by MSRP as those can be really high. When I shopped around for my 1911 I knew what features I wanted, full stainless, adjustable trigger, decent sights and a "cool factor" and my limit was $950. I got that narrowed down to just a few and ended up getting the Remington 1911R1S Enhanced and local dealer beat everybody's price and I got it for $849. Its a really nice gun and a hoot to shoot.
