New philly in the stable ...

Tonight the P series GOD looked favorably down on me. I won an auction on GB for a Ruger P85 unfired in original box with papers. It's all black (not my first choice) but for the price I'll take it. Now just to get the paperwork in order ...

Pictures to follow once she comes home to roost!

Is it pre or post safety upgrade? Either way, sounds like a good day for you. (I have P89s but no P85s)

I am assuming it is pre safety upgrade. Its my understanding that Ruger will stamp the gun next to the model name when they do the upgrade.

Yes, I sent a older P85 in & they did the upgrade for free.
Michael, if it is stamped MKII on the decock lever, it's done, no need to send it.
Or a call to Ruger with ser. Number to be sure.
I bought mine used, called them & they took it from there.

I ended up with this P89DC recently, since I foolishly sold the 85 in a week moment one day.
Congrats from a fellow Ohio'en

Congratulations on your new purchase. I think I saw the gun you purchased on GB! There is a certain amount of confidence that I feel when I hold a P-Series; they're a little on the heavy side and not the best looking but they will always go bang no matter what ammo you feed it. Be careful, you may have been bitten by the collecting bug! Show us some pics when you can. I own several and love every one of them!

I got lucky once again on this P85. I contacted the seller and he informed me it does indeed have the safety modification. Load off my mind and now I can shoot her instead of contacting Ruger ...

That's great. Have fun!

(The P89 was the first new firearm I ever bought and my first pistol)
