The plug is available from Numrich and Ruger. Personally, I like the lanyard loop on my P90.

What versions of the P89 had a lanyard ring? Mine (a Davidson's two-tone edition) doesn't have one.

I am not sure if I will swap it out but I am going to start shooting IDPA and a good bud who runs those stages does not care for the ring. As of now I am on the fence. As my mag swap speed increases I will find out if it bothers me, as for now, my hands are my worst enemy.

prefix ser# is 309-xxxxx
It is SS slide/upper/controls w a gray lower that has the black plastic ruger grips(which I do not care for) and a black ring.
I do not know what a "davidson's" is. I will post a PIC soon.
Any info you can pass along would be great.
This gun has been used only for about 300rds.. I started shooting pistols over the last 6 months(I use a Beretta PXSC for edc and have been shooting mostly that and my buds Sigs) He told me there is no reason not to run your gun (P89) thru the IDPA stages. I have been training a little and as of now I am just as good w/ the ruger p89 as a sig p226.
I plan to get the Ruger grips fron Hogue and 3 more mags and take it from there.

Had to go back and look at the Ruger owner's manual to see what the deal is with the lanyard ring. Turns out that the Hammer Spring Seat comes in two versions: one with a lanyard loop (p/n V02402), the other without (p/n V02400). These two parts fits either the P89, P90, or P94. So I guess you could swap the parts depending on how you want the pistol to look.
"Davidson's", also called Gallery of Guns is a distributor that offers various custom features on otherwise factory firearms. Link to Davidson's. Ruger will show Davidson's versions on their website when they are available.
My P89 Davidson's version (P89TH) has Hogue grips and a two-tone finish. It only came with one mag but I liked the look of it and the Hogue grips are much better than the plastic Ruger factory grips.

I just swapped out the hammer spring seat with the lanyard loop to the hammer spring seat without the lanyard loop. (Both parts are oem and available.) It took me about five to ten minutes total. The cost was $5.95.
Here is what I did to swap out the stock oem parts.
(Sorry, I don't own a camera)
1. Put on safety goggles/glasses.
2. Checked to make sure the firearm was unloaded.
3. Removed the magazine.
4. Disassembled the slide from the frame. ( Same way you would when you clean)
5. Put the slide off to the side. ( You do not need to do anything further to the slide.)
6. Remove the grip panels.
7. Put pressure on the the hammer spring seat with the lanyard.
8. Use a small punch to push the pin out. (A toothpick could work as well )
9. Gently released the pressure on the hammer spring seat with the lanyard loop.
(If you are the unlucky type put the frame in a clear plastic bag to catch the parts incase the parts
go flying away.)
10. Replaced the hammer spring seat with the loop for the hammer spring seat without the loop.
11. Put pressure back on the hammer spring seat without the loop ( holes need to line up).
12. Pushed the pin back in with the small punch. (Started with my fingers, finished with the punch)
13. Put the grip panels back on.
14. Reassembled the slide and frame.
15. Inserted the magazine.
16. Done.
* It is not as difficult as it sounds.
I did it without any instructions. Hope this is helpful.

I'm seeing more P series guns without the ring then with. I am starting to believe that Ruger has dropped the installation of the ring but personally, I like it.

My 1993 "Project P-89" came with a lanyard mainspring cap & my new parts kit from the mid 2000s came with the smooth flat one which I prefer..
Flash Had first Dibs on it & it'll be coming your way soon..

My duty issued P85 back in 1989 (9mm) had the lanyard ring, but when my agency went to .45 caliber, the P90's we were issued were specified without the lanyard. Most 80's issued P85 I had seen all had the lanyard rings. I still prefer .45 and my main carry today is the P345. I use the LCP .380 as my summer/off duty carry. For the record, I preferred the P series without the lanyards.
