Chief,

I don’t know about the P90 models specifically but the P95 models should work the same. On the decocking model when you depress the decocking lever it temporarily blocks the firing pin and decocks the hammer but when you release it springs back up exposing the firing pin and readying the gun to immediately operate in the DA mode. Pull the hammer back and you are SA ready!

The manual safety models have a larger lever that has two detented positions. The upper position is the fire position. If the hammer is cocked and you move the safety lever to the “safe” position it decocks the hammer and blocks the firing pin but it stays in that position in a safe mode until you manually move it back to the fire position. The safe mode also disengages the trigger mechanism so the gun will not fire in any mode with the safety on.

If the manual safety model is cocked and ready and you move the safety lever to the safe position and then immediately back to the fire position you have manually achieved what the decocker model does automatically by depressing the decocker lever. Am I making sense?

Chief,I know you may have your answer by now but I have both safety and DC models. The DC model is always ready to go even after you decock it it is ready in DA mode. The safety model when in safe mode disables the trigger and decocks the gun.
