Ruger 9E sights

I know lots of folks on the forum have been asking about what replacement sights can be used on the Ruger 9E. I copied the in the below email response which is from a production manager at Ruger stating the 9E can accept any 1911 Novak sights.

"Sorry for the confusion. I will talk to the Customer Service Reps so they all know. Your 9E has a Novak Dovetail, so you are correct that SR sights will not work. Any Novak 1911 front and rear sights should be close to a drop-in, with perhaps a little bit of fitting with a file. The 9E has a low profile sight, so if you change the rear, you may have to also change the front also to maintain the same height relationship. I did a quick web search and I canít find any Novak type 1911 sights with a rear box. The one we make for the Ruger American pistol could be made to fit, but you would need a gunsmith to machine some material off the back of the slide. Probably not a great option either. Sorry we couldnít be more help. "

Hope this helps everyone that has a 9E and is looking options on sights.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Novak 1911 fiber optic sights or box style sight?

The front sight on shopruger.com for a SR1911 will fit a 9e with a little filing.

GREAT info Thanks.. I was looking at NOVAK sight s for the 1911, and it show several different models. like a 3" and a 5" model with different part #s. DO you grab just any NOVAK sight? Is the cut the same? I also see a size listed like .325 height and standard Novak .495 x 65 degree dovetail !

Thanks

I have only had my 9E about a year! Tried to get sights but not made yet! The question has been asked a lot for us 9E owners. I was stoked to see this thread! Hopefully someone installs a set of NOVAK sights and lets us know if they fit or not and if any trimming is needed !

I bought Williams Fire sights for the SR 1911, just put them on my 9e this morning and they went right on, no filing or any other mods. The rear sight sits slightly higher, I will go to the club and sight it in tomorrow and let you folks know how they work, I'll try and post a few pictures as well.

Well I went to the club and sighted in the pistol and all is great, height is right on, had to adjust the windage a bit. I'm very happy with these new sights. Now just an FYI, the hardest part for me was lining up the dovetails when installing the sights, but with a little patients they went on nicely. It took an extra day to get back to you guys, sometimes a guy just has to go fishing.
Now to try and load pictures, wish me luck.

Very interested on the report after sighting it in. Just picked a 9e up last week. Sights were good out the box but getting older isn't helping my eyes none on gaining a quick site picture if you know what I'm saying.

Radco,

WIL 71030 FIRE SIGHT RUG SR 1911
WL-AP-71030

I bought them from Opticsplanet.com I'm not sure if all stores use the same part #. They were about $60.00 for the pair.
