Ruger LCP

This gun has been on my list of guns to "try" for many years. Finally picked on up tonight. Local dealer has them for $209.99 so I figured why not. Haven't owned a 380 pocket pistol this small yet. I've owned bersa thunder 380, kahr cw380, even a Glock 42. All good shooters but all were also bigger (not by much though).

This one once broken in will be my summer carry gun.

Awards Showcase

Great choice for a summer gun. We've owned two for several years and they have never malfunctioned. My wife is pretty good with hers.

Looking back at my gun list of firearms that I've owned I did back in 2010 own a Taurus tcp. So I guess I've owned a pocket 380 before. After seeing that I remember that day in the gun store. I originally wanted the LCP. But they were out. But he had one Taurus left and I bought it for $199.99. Ran about 500 rounds though it with minimal issues. Traded it off to fund something else.

I was able to get out and pop off some rounds this afternoon. 50 rounds of American eagle fmj 95 grain pills. The little ruger didn't miss a beat. Looking forward to shooting it more and having the girlfriend shoot it as well.

Great guns for when discretion trumps all else.

They will spoil you though...find myself carrying the LCP when I could carry one of my larger guns. In an ankle rig you will hardly know it's there.

Mine has been 100% flawless.

My version is an AZ Anniversary Edition with a Crimson Trace Laser collector. Never been fired, so I also bought a regular one which I eventually sold to a female friend. It was actually a bit small for my hand, so it worked out well.

The LCP will spoil you as far as carrying anything else. My first gun after I got my Calif CCW was a Bersa Thunder 380. I tried IWB but that method of carry just doesn't work for me. Where I live and for what I do (RETIRED) my normal dress is cargo shorts/t-shirt (summer) and Levis/sweatshirt(winter). After the Bersa I got the LCP (back when you could still buy a new one in Calif). I carry it in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster with the seven round magazine. I don't carry the LCP with a round in the chamber. I'm very familiar with the reasons why I should but have made the conscious decision that this is the way to go for me. After I got the LCP I bought a Glock 26 under some delusion that I could work it into my carry routine. Great gun but no way for me to carry it concealed. Next came the Sig p938 Equinox - I figured that it was only slightly bigger than the LCP, had a safety and I could carry it in a Nemesis pocket holster just like the LCP plus it was 9mm instead of 380. I tried it for awhile but the difference in weight is quite noticeable. I even got confortably with the p938 coked and locked. Without a doubt - if you ever had to use the gun- the p938 is MANY TIMES the gun the LCP is. It has real Siglight night sights and you can get a real purchase in the weapon. But my lazy side win out and I almost always grab the LCP out of the safe in my office when I head out the door. The LCP pretty much removes all the reasons not to carry - it goes in my right front pocket and I "forget it's there" unless I need it. The first rule of any gunfight - remember to bring a gun. The LCP makes this easy.

I also couldn't resist this gun on Sportsmans for $199, especially since I had a $100 reward certificate from Christmas Shopping. Supposed to get to the FFL tomorrow!

We own two. My wife has one with the raspberry frame and I have the Talo exclusive with the FDE frame and FDE cerakoted slide. Mine goes with me everywhere at all times, even if I happen to be carrying my Glock 26. Its so easy to slip into a front pocket and forget about that there is no reason to ever leave home without it. Neither of ours has ever malfunctioned, and after a little practice I am actually able to shoot tighter groups at 7 yards with it than I can with my G26.

Congrats on the LCP. Nice little gun to just slip in your pocket, like I did today.

Put another box of ammo though it today. Functions great.

I did notice the ejection pattern was a little erratic. Some would eject right at 3 o'clock. Others would eject straight up and hit me in the head.

My p3at does that as well, and have heard others say the same, don't worry about it.

Tell your girlfriend DON'T wear a low cut shirt, she'll get a surprise, has happened to many.
