SR9c Problem getting striker Out

Bought a new SR9c. Have not shot it yet, but from all I have read about light strikes, I decided to clean out the striker channel.

Went to the Ruger disassembly video, but I can't seem to get the striker to move all the way forward the way the video suggests needs to happen, and can't figure out how to get the back plate off. There does not seem to be a hole in which to press on the disengage button.

Any help will be appreciated.

^Agreed. Mine is that earlier model and removing the striker is literally as easy as pushing in thru the hole on the backplate then sliding the backplate down & off. I understand the newer configuration is a bit more complicated.

With the slide in hand, there are two releases. The rear one is the magazine disconnect button. Push on it and you'll feel a small click as the striker moves forward about 1mm. Then press the round button near the opening in the middle of the slide, the striker release, and it will click again moving forward. Mine drops all the way so the firing pin is protruding from the face where the round seats.

That lets off most of the spring pressure. I understand the newer models have a release hole for the back plate that is inside of the hole where the striker moves. Look in there with a flash light. Push a pokey thingy into that small hole to release the catch, and slide the back plate out.

That's about all I know. As mentioned, you can no doubt find a video for the "new" design SR9c.

Ok, thanks all. And, by the way, I just got back from the range and have a big smile on my face. The gun performed flawlessly. Put 100 rounds through it, 115 gr. MagTech. 115r. Selier & Bellot, and 115 gr. Blazer Aluminum. Not one glitch of any kind.

The trigger is great and the accuracy remarkable. Just love this gun.
