+1 otherwise why bother carrying at all?

I pocket carry a pistol similar to the LCP, and yes, a round is chambered, of course.

Yes

When you pocket carry an LCP, or any other pocket gun, you should keep it in a holster that covers the trigger guard. With the trigger covered it's relatively safe to carry it with a round chambered.

I was using an NAA 22 magnum as a pocket gun that was in my pocket whenever I left the house and wasn't carrying something bigger.
Now I am breaking in the LCP for pocket carry....
I fired the first 50 rounds this morning, a bit punishing on the hand, but worked perfectly....well, releasing the slide for the first shot seemed to hang up a tiny bit now and then.
I'm figuring that I'll probably only shoot it a few rounds every few times at the range just to keep it moving....it's really not a range gun, just a little something to have in your pocket

Give the barrel a wipe down with CLP to season it. When you chamber a round pull the slide back and let it go or slingshot the slide and give it a bump with the heel of your hand. Don't go crazy and bruise your hand when you bump the slide, just a firm bump. Give the magazine the same type bump.

Once you get used to your LCP it is a solid 15 yard shooter.

I always have a round chambered in my carry guns. Bad things can happen in a stressful situation while racking the slide and those few precious seconds could be the deciding factor as to weather you're alive or dead.

Hmmmmm? Let me know how that works out for you in the long-run. Is it that far fetched to envision the LCP [as small as it is] inverting and sitting muzzle up in your pocket? Is it equally far fetched to envision a scenario whereby the now inverted gun can possibly have the trigger depressed when you reach into your pocket to retrieve it? :(
