What killed the LC9?

Was it a bad reputation, constant problems, bad manufacturing, customer complaints? After having to send it to Ruger for constant FTFs, front sight falling off. damage to the pistol while at Ruger for repair, and problems with the magazine falling out after the first shot, I gave up on it and purchased a Sig Sauer P290RS (I like DAO pistols)

S&W Shield market shares probably...Ruger has hit a home run with the Pro, my family shoots the Ruger better than the Shield...including the Shield's owner so I'm guessing it was just good ol' capitalism.

S&W looked at a number of pistols from many manufacturers to arrive at a design that incorporates the best features of the other designs and makes them better. That is a tough act to follow but Ruger is up to the challenge

I've had one for a couple of years - I got it in 2011 - and have had no problems with it. Other haven't been so lucky. The long trigger pull - it feels like it's never going to stop - isn't conducive to accuracy, but it feels appropriate for a "belly gun" like the LC9. I even like the thumb safety.

I feel it was the long trigger pull plus Ruger listening to customers. I have an LC9 for carry and in the house. For those purposes I'm not going to get rid of a good operational gun. It goes to the range about once a year to be sure it still has the goods to throw lead.

Although "discontinued" by Ruger I still see many NIB LC9 pistols on store shelves. My wife bought a purple one after Christmas and, after going over hers, I bought one just like it in black. They were both serial numbered to 2014 production. We're shooting the heck out of them and enjoying them.

I'm a revolver guy going back to the early eighties. If I want a striker trigger I have a 709 Taurus Slim (a similarly sized single stack nine) but I really like this Ruger LC9 lots more. If I want a striker trigger on a Glock well I own three of them.

I understand why Ruger moved on and developed the LC9s but the LC9 wasn't a bad gun at all.
