Just picked it up today. Was at the range Saturday, and after shooting I was browsing the store. Spotted two of these 96/22m levers, both new. Went back today and bought one. Might buy the other one, too!

Nice find. I kinda did the same with mine years back twas brand new boxed just never sold amazing. If they pop up down here on used guns they go real fast so I was lucky as you, enjoy.

that's angoran goat.
still thinking about buying the other one.
I also found a 96/22 .22lr, used, at another LGS...200 bucks. I have a 10/22 build going on now, though, so I'll pass on that one.

That's a great looking lever action.
I've never been excited over the looks of a regular 10/22 but it looks good with a lever.

yeah, it does look like a 10/22. Still haven't shot it yet. Thinking about buying a scope for it, the front sight is tiny and I have a hard time seeing it.
Got my eye out for a 96/44 now. Found a deal on a couple of Browning BLR's, but messed around too long and they were gone...should have bought one when I had the chance.

I made the mistake of selling mine to a friend that wanted it for his son. Been kicking myself ever since.

I looked at one yesterday. Still looks too much like a 10/22 for me. They are a compact design and are supposed to shoot well. different strokes.
