To the OP your rifle sounds beautiful and they are. I also like the Henry's and the Rossi Model 92's but still my favorite is the Marlin 1894 C or the 1894 Cowboy Rifle Limited which is what I have. My problem is not any function of the rifle it shoots great. But I really prefer a scope I currently have a small 2-7x32 Weaver scope on it very clear optics but with a 24 inch octagon barrel this is a heavy gun!!! My light weight is my Rossi Model 92 Big Loop 16 inch barrel .357 in my avatar pic. deadly accurate but nope options for a scope. So now considering selling this gun plus my Ruger LCR .22 Mag. plus I probably have to dig up some cash to get me a Henry Big Boy Steel Carbine .357 and transfer the Weaver scope onto it. But now am I really gaining a light weight gun over what I currently have?? The Henry Big Boy Steel Carbine still weighs in at 6.69 pounds!!! One other thing to mention the Monitors must have moved or deleted my latest thread on the Marlin 1894 C .357 that was for sale in Utah!!! Listed at $1000.00 obo well I looked again just now and it sold!!!

Old eyes

GQ; I hear ya, old eyes and open sights, I did my 94 Trapper 45LC with Williams fiber optic front and receiver rear, makes a big differences, I went to the Mable web sight and it looks like they make a fiber front sight for the 73, I am going to look into it. And the price of the JM Marlins, are just thru the roof, That's why I pick up the Winchester or should I say Miruko, for the little extra cost, and the better resell value. I like the Henry but your right it is heavy, and for me the tube feed just didn't like it, but you can put better sights on the flat top receiver.

New load

I've started working up a new load for the 73 with H110, 15 grs and 15.5 158gr Nosler JHP, Start line brass, and CCI sp, I am going to try the standard caps, the manuals say mag, but I feel the standard should work, we'll see. I report after a range test.

That there is a fine looking Winchester. I had a 94 Trapper in .44 mag and still miss it. Enjoy yours.

Just finished the range test of the new load, shot well out to 75 yds into 25, picking off pieces of clay targets on the back stop. Shoots a bit higher then the mid range but need to shot it more loads as follows. FFE all was happy with it, need to put it on some sand bags.

Star line brass
CCI SP
H110 15GRS.
Nosler 158 gr HP

Well I see what I had earlier posted well I found a Marlin 1894 C pre crossbolt safety for $500.00 very nice gun then sold my avatar gun miss that little Rossi for $450.00 so my Marlin 1894 C basically cost me $50.00 in cash plus it now wears the little Weaver scope on it. Much lighter gun vs my Marlin 1894 CB limited Rifle so now I have a pair of Marlin 1894's both .357!!!

Beautiful rifle , I craved one of these myself when they first came out but got a Rossi instead . A gun trading friend had someone he knows carve oak leaves on the buttstock and forend . Turned out real nice . Now I'd like to have Miroku/winchester you've got , but in 45 colt . Yours is one of the better ones I've seen , very nice . Congratulations !

Hey mtman59714....

Beautimous rifle there... just magnificent!

But I need to stop readin' your posts... dang yore sorry hide. You cost me big money... made me buy a Winchester.

Just bought a Win '73 Sporter in 44-40, with 24" octagon barrel... single-digit serial number... to go along with my Colts. Good thing 'bout 'em... they all shoot the same caliber. Just have to carry one load...

My Colt Frontier Six Shooter's...

Well... if my woman gets upset... I'm sendin' her to you....

My rifle should arrive at my FFL next week...

.

That is such a sexy looking rifle, (is it legal to have sex with a rifle, forget the moral or mechanics of it) just one sexy rifle.
