Marlin/Remlin 336c Peep Sight Options?

Howdy,

So I've been researching a ton of different peep sight options for my brand new Marlin..Remlin.. 336.. And I really like the look of the skinner receiver mounted sights. They look rugged and durable, but my concern is the front sight blade.
Skinner says on its website to file the front sight down to zero it.

This makes me really nervous because not only am I new to lever actions, but I dunno what a good distance to zero it. I really don't want to file too much down.. I plan on killing some deer with this rifle in the fall so I don't want to screw it up. Can any of you tell me how difficult this zeroing process is? Is it a good idea to zero the sights with the rear aperture sort of in the middle in order to adjust for elevation?

If you have better ideas regarding other sights(Williams, XS, Lyman, etc.) than just using skinner sights, I'd love to hear them! I apologize for asking such newbie questions.

Thanks in advance!

I use Williams peep sights on my Marlins, Williams has several styles. My older Marlins are pre drilled on the left side of the receiver with two holes that fit the FP-336, FP's are the best to adjust. Your newer Marlin might not be pre drilled and a 5D-336 or a WGRS-336 might work for you? Do your home work before ordering one online!

The Williams, Lyman, and the Skinner are all good sights.

Thanks for the input! I'm not sure if I'm down with the Skinners anymore honestly, I don't like the idea of having to use the same load every single time. Gotta keep my options open in case I need to adjust. Does your Williams rear sight have the elevations and windage hash marks/indicators too? I read that they have the elevation, but not windage.. which is down right lame.
