Howdy,
So I've been researching a ton of different peep sight options for my brand new Marlin..Remlin.. 336.. And I really like the look of the skinner receiver mounted sights. They look rugged and durable, but my concern is the front sight blade.
Skinner says on its website to file the front sight down to zero it.
This makes me really nervous because not only am I new to lever actions, but I dunno what a good distance to zero it. I really don't want to file too much down.. I plan on killing some deer with this rifle in the fall so I don't want to screw it up. Can any of you tell me how difficult this zeroing process is? Is it a good idea to zero the sights with the rear aperture sort of in the middle in order to adjust for elevation?
If you have better ideas regarding other sights(Williams, XS, Lyman, etc.) than just using skinner sights, I'd love to hear them! I apologize for asking such newbie questions.
Thanks in advance!
